Hi everyone,

ive been chipping away at my game and i am about 1/3rd of the way there... I was wondering at what point to start showing some screens etc.. blog, post whatever before its actually finished.. what do you think is a good time to do it? should i wait till its actually done? how long do i keep it 'secret' before showing the world?

i have a family and a day job so its hard for me to actually say when it will be finished etc..

Hi chipoc, personally I've shown vids of my adventure game and I'm only into about the third week of it. QuantumSheep suggested a while back that if people are that worried of "stealers" then to register it with your apple account before showing it.

I think a person would have to be pretty low to steal a game personally and I've quite a bit of faith in the gaming community (including and especially the GS community) not to pinch a game outright, including the name. And even if a name was pinched, then the community is that close-knit that there'd be an uproar on behalf of the person who showed their game, maybe three of four months before.

It's a personal decision in the end; if you do show stuff, I for one would be really interested in knowing what you're up to, game-wise! (Does it involve cows?!)

    :-)

    Im in agreement with gyroscope.

The sooner you show it the sooner you can get some helpful feedback here on this forum, and it also allows you to slowly build some buzz if you have a blog on your own site, or post on touch arcade. Then when you near launch maybe sign up some touch arcaders as beta testers, then they can review and spread the word for you. If they like it.

    Good luck.

I've been showing stuff on my game since I started a few weeks ago. Also set my
Blog up yesterday so I can catalogue my work

Didn't know about the TouchArcade beta testers, stormy. A thanks from me. Neat idea about the blog; I think I might do the same! (If you don't mind me copying that idea) :-)

    thanks good and valid points

i am a bit cautious as ive had my animated short film ripped off and cloned before by a studio in India and ive also had mobile companies sell my stuff without knowing...

but i also know getting feedback early on would strengthen the game
