How did you guys set up your "Tax" info when submitting to Apple?

Hi guys,
today is the day and I'm submitting my first app but I'm not sure if I need to complete the "Tax" information
I gave them my banking details but unfortunately, I don't have a Tax ID and don't know how to set one up here in Canada ether.
I am also not expecting a sales volume that would cross that threshold so can I just ignore that for now?

thanks :)

Think this has been answered before. Just follow the info that apple gives you. You only need the ID if you are registered business. If you independent your fine. You can upload you apps no problem but apple will not pay you till they have the form filled in an sent to them for their records. It's just so legally they are saying they have collected tax on you behalf. You need to report your earnings and tax when you do you taxes.

Actually, you can use your SSN (Social Security Number), if you have one.

Even as an independent I /think/ you still need to submit a tax ID.

In Canada, I believe you have GST, correct? If so you'll need to be registered to charge GST - I think.

Hopefully someone from Canada can answer this for you, but I know in Australia (we also have GST) Apple needs you to be registered for it so they don't get stiffed with YOUR GST tax bill.

yes, of coarse i have a SIN# but i am not crazy to submit that to apple ...
I'm not a business yet and thus have no tax ID

I figured many on here release as a person and not as a business?

    SingleSparq,
I do a lot of googling and find posts on here but since this is important, I figured I'd ask just to be sure :)

That makes sense but the threshold for charging the GST (btw, you got that correct) is an income of $20.000/year
I know that only John P and my cousin will buy the trumpet for $1.99 of which apple keeps (almost all of it ;) ) so I see no hurry to register myself to get a TAX ID unless i absolutely have to?

    hmmmmm

    Any Canadians here?

Hey, yeah - I know there is a threshold for charging GST, there is here as well, and it's higher here - but Apple still needs you to be registered.

When you log in and go to your tax info page or contracts or something at the bottom there is a link for Australia, Japan and Canada - did you check that out?

I'm Canadian and not a business. There is nothing on the form that asks for a gst number, just a business number and that's only if applicable. Apple accepted what I sent ( though I haven't been paid yet as I haven't sold enough;)

Hey, sorry, I didn't see you mention GST so I wasn't sure.

But yes, I just looked up the Canadian thing and Apple handles your GST totally differently to ours; lucky :P It was hard to register here XD

I know ... registering is harder than to make software! THAT is crazy!
Well, I have to look into fixing the tax thing but, there is no fire because even if there would be any sales, apple would not for over cash until some time in February anyway.

Other than that, it's shaping up to be an exciting day ... I'm taking a brake from GS and am working on the web page http://littlecomposers.net
    it's comin' along nicely :)

    Thanks John!

The start screen got a little make over last night and this morning, i've changed the text at the bottom to make it more simple!

I love the little notes ... makes it more child friendly ... sort of :)
