Need help with uploading my app to Apple :)

edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
Hi, so far, I have built my final version and got it back from GS, installed it on my ipad to check everything and all is well!
I went to the app developer site and started to fill out their forms, included an icon for my app, submitted a screen shot for my app and then a window popped up as if i was already done BUT, I have not submitted anything.

I've read the How To's on this page but there is no recent article that is useful.

Could someone tell me about this last step? I am not able to complete it by myself ... i think.

Oh ... almost forget!

Right now, in my browser I can see my app icon and the status says prepare for upload but there is nothing that helps me find out where I do this?

It's been a few months since I submitted an app to Apple but after I finished filling out all the info in the Manage Your Applications module in iTunes Connect, I had to use Apple's "Application Loader" to actually submit my binary to Apple. After doing this, your status should change in iTunes Connect. Apple's Application Loader program can be found wherever you installed the SDK from Apple. Hope this helps.

ahhhh ... there is a way to upload binary! LOL OK, so now what?

How do I open this with XCode and get it to spit out what I need?

    osucowboy18,
can i just upload the file i got back from the GS server or, do I need to open that in xcode? I am confused and there is no suitable material on the net that covers this ...

    thanks :)

OK, I just tried but there is no place to upload my app. I am at the Application Summary page on the apple site .... this is weird!

    Hey xyloFUN

If i remember rightly this is what I did:

    1. The file you get from gamesalad you have to compress it, so it becomes a zip file.

    2. Open up finder on your mac, and type in application loader.

    3. Open Application Loader.

    4. Select your application from the drop down list, the rest is very easy to follow.

    WOW WOW WOW
i am amazed that this site has no instructions on how to do this?

Thank you joy for bringing this up but there is, unfortunately, a problem.

the application loader did the first steps, shows my app name but does not let me choose the file i got back from GS server ... it's greyed out and can not be selected. I can't believe how hard this is!

p.s. i was able to select my app from the drop down list but now i can not choose it :(

    Sorry!!!!

This is wrong! I recognized that the name the application loader let me pick is not the latest one!

    yikes ...

OK, I sent the last test up to the GS server, got the file back and installed it on my ipad! It works as expected and now I would like to upload it to apple.
Some of you have done this and even if not, we should compile this information as it will come in handy for many ppl.

    How to proceed from here?

    oh God,
I wish we could delete posts ....

    I was wrong!

Application loader does have the right app (i got confused by the SKU #)

But, I have nothing i can choose. What else can I try?
The file I got back from GS is not selectable (greyed out)

    hmmm....

Wish I had an answer for you mate, nothing more frustrating then being held back at the last hurdle!!!

I know it sounds a tad tedious, but this helped me out:

Go back into itunes connect, delete your game (although you may want to consider this carefully as once you delete it as far as I am aware you cant reuse the name!)

Go to your iphone developer account and delete everything there (i.e provisioning stuff!!)

Next start all over again but this time watch t-shirtbooths very helpful video and follow it to the letter.

Make sure you follow all the prompts from itunes connect to the letter as you go along

I know its probably not the answer your looking for, lol, however thats all I can think of!!

amazing that you mention this ...

I am watching tshirt booth's tut right now and have found a mistake on my end!

When I download that file and double click it, xcode opens up and displays this error message:
A valid sgning identity matchind this profile could not be found in your keychain

Watch t-shirtbooths videos a few times over in full screen, it all become apparent after a while.

I just did and i think i've set up my profile wrong because I have a problem with my key chain.

I can not follow him to the end because I never get an upload screen!
  • joey2ejoey2e Member Posts: 99
Don't worry about following him to the end, just follow as far as you can go then use the new method of the application loader it is effectively the same thing.

Its frustrating I know but keep it going, you are closer now than you were an hour ago when you first started this thread.

i am and i am not.

I believe that I did not set up my profile right when i first signed up with apple? I don't know what to do to check it because when i do a build for the app store (local ones i can do) i don't get access to the key chain.

I need to look into that first and see if i am even set up right and than ....

it pisses me off that I can not use the name I've chosen before as it does not let me reuse it :((

The key chain is on your mac, to get access do the following:

    1 Go to Applications

    2. Go to utilities

    3. Look for Keychain Access

    4. Open Keychain Access

Once in Keychain have a look for your certificates (You should have one for development and one for distribution) delete them and start all over again

thank you, i did not know that and your info comes at the right time :)

I wish i'd know someone who has a mac here in the city ... this should not be so hard!
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
OK, i have deleted the two existing certificates and replaced them with new ones!

    Good work mate!!

ok, i'm at the end of the road.

I've created a new provisioning profile and clicking it (once it downloaded) generated the msg that "profile can not be installed on device"

Do I need to ad my imac as a device? if yes, where do i find the device id?
  • joey2ejoey2e Member Posts: 99
    Have you created new certificates?
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
sorry, I just had to pick my wife up ... i did create new certificates but there is something wrong on a level that is beyond me. I need to find someone who is willing to remote connect and try to set this up ....
