Hi tshirtbooth,
i have tried everything i can think of but am only making things worse ...

could you help me to start over and set the developers license with apple up from scratch? I am getting error messages with provisioning profiles and thus am not able to publish.

Please have a look :)

p.s. I don't expect that you do this for free!

I have the same problem. I feel like I just need to start over.

Can you just wipe out all the certs in your keychain or start a new keychain? What is the best way to start over. My Dev Cert was working fine then all of a sudden stopped and now my Distribution Cert is working fine. It is so weird. I had to renew everything (renewed my Apple Developer Program) and that is when the problems started.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks!

I wish there was an "undo" button but the fact is, that i have messed up my profile beyond repair (at least from my point of view).
I've learned a few things but it is too late to fix my computer and install a new profile in order to submit my app before Christmas which is the end of my short GS career (died before it begun).

IF anyone has a tutorial or link to an article that shows how to completely remove a profile, i might be able to pay someone to set it up for me because i love making games but the way apple implements the registration is out of my league :(

I am sad because i've worked very hard to implement a lot of nice stuff and never have i imagined that i would not be able to submit.

I'm out of ideas on that one ....

    anything i'm missing?

and when you follow that youll see the old damaged profiles and you can delete them that way to

    John,
thanks for posting that but i recognize it and have looked at it and other pages like that last night.

My problem might be deeper with xcode or something else entirely ... i don't even know.

All i do know is that if i can't publish today, i might as well go back to flash and pursue the non apple platform.

I have the "ipad app dev for dummies" book which has a 20 page chapter on how to set the profiles up but i can not follow the steps because of bigger issues with key chain or xcode.

if someone knows of a book that deals with removing EVERYTHING short of reinstalling OSX i'd be interested!

    I don't look forward to this day :( it's a mess!

if you open up the keychain access application, you should see 3 certificates:

Apple Worldwide Developer Relations Certificate Authority
    iPhone Developer: NAME
    iPhone Distribution: NAME

If you expand both the iPhone keys, you will see two a private key with your name under each. Right click on each of those and hit delete. After that right click on the three certificates above and hit delete.

    Reboot your computer

Then open xcode, with your phone plugged in, and click on Window->Organizer
If you click on Developer Profile, you should see nothing in it
Click on Provisioning Profiles, delete EVERYTHING
Click on your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad under devices, after a few seconds it will show you all installed provisioning profiles on the phone. Delete EVERYTHING

reboot your phone and your machine again just to make sure it's all cleaned out.

Now, go back and login to the iPhone Developer Portal and go to where you create your keychains/appids/provisioning profiles. Start from step 1, and read each section through twice before you do anything.

If you follow the steps it's very easy, but you have to follow them exactly. If you make a mistake it's a nightmare.

The first time I attempted to set it up, it took me 3 weeks, but that was 2 years ago. It's gotten easier.

    thank you jonmulcahy,
i will do that right now!

and yes, you are right, it IS a nightmare!

I need a fresh start and i will do as you suggested!

before I go ahead and start, could someone help me verify the xcode version?

    mine says: V 3.2.5

do i need to upgrade or am i good to go?
  • JohnPapiomitisJohnPapiomitis Member Posts: 6,256
    did it work?
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
    No John :(
I just posted an ad on craigslist, offering to pay for someone to come by my place and install everything ...

How ever, there is little chance that i will find someone to do this, even offering to pay has not generated interest.

This is a dead end for me because no matter what i try, i simply don't know what i'm doing. I had hardly any sleep the last two nights and am not able to focus anymore

    Sorry, i misread your question!
Yes, I was able to remove the old profiles and install the new ones but i don't know what to do now
  • JohnPapiomitisJohnPapiomitis Member Posts: 6,256
okay good! Now you have to build it for release
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
i for got how to do that.
yesterday, i've installed the final version onto my ipad and have a file on my desktop called "LittleComposersTrumpet"
    it's about 10 meg

Do i need to do something with GS or go to the web portal and try to submit it?
  • JohnPapiomitisJohnPapiomitis Member Posts: 6,256
Take the xcode project, build it for release. If your not sure what to do search building iphone app for release or something like that, then zip the file and just follow the steps in the first video tshirt posted in the other topic, and thats it
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
the file i got back from the GS server has to be built in xcode first? I've asked about that yesterday and if i recall this right, i was told to only zip it up and submit it (which i was not able to do because there is no upload button on the page where i created the icon and screenshot for it)

sorry, that is probably sounding very dumb to you
  • JohnPapiomitisJohnPapiomitis Member Posts: 6,256
Yes the project gamesalad sends you,you have to open with xcode. ANd select build and release at the top. Build it and it wil give you a .app file. THats the actually application. You need to zip that, then follow tshirts video on uploading to itunes. Where it says upload binary is where you load it in, and youll only see that after you make a app idea and everything. THis is never easy, just keep watching the videos and ill keep talking yhou threw it

wow ... i was hoping that i was wrong ...

i opened x code, and from the file (top menu on the screen) selected file > open, selected the GS file but nothing happens. XCode does not open a window
  • JohnPapiomitisJohnPapiomitis Member Posts: 6,256
not the gs file, when you publish threew gamesalad they will send you back a file that will be say nameofgame.xcodeproj
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
what exactly are you trying to do? you ONLY need xcode to create the viewer, nothing else.

once you create and download your provisioning profiles, all you have to do is publish with GS, right click on the .app file that is sent back to you and choose Compress, and then use the Application Loader to upload to iTunes?
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
ok, i have gone back to where i was yesterday and made the app but there, i can NOT find any place to upload my zip file.

i just tried to recreate a second app but forgot the bundle ID because of the mess which i created the last few days. What is the best way to generate the right one or what do i have to redo in order to get this right?
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
on itunes connect you need to click on View Details, at the top right you should see a "Ready to Upload" button, or something, post a screenshot of that page. You need to get the status of the app to read "Ready to Upload". then when you launch the Application Loader to upload the game (The ONLY way to upload a game), it will automatically appear in the drop down. It won't appear unless it's got the right status.
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
actually, I was wrong, it should be in Waiting for Upload. Read this guide starting on page 79 on how to use the Application Loader:

    https://itunesconnect.apple.com/docs/iTunesConnect_DeveloperGuide.pdf
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
ok, i've recreated the app in iTunes connect and just like yesterday, there was no option for uploading my file.
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
    jonmulcahy,
thanks for that pdf. I never got a button for the application loader .... i'm looking into it now
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
the application loader does not proceed to actually uploading.
Just like yesterday, there is only once choice from the drop down and selecting that gives me only a back button and a choose button.
So i can not upload the app.

I was not aware that the app can not be uploaded directly from the web page like the screen shots and icons.
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
Adding application generated these two error messages:
bundle identifier: com.littlecomposers.xylofunTrumpet differs from reserved bundle identifier: com.littlecomposers.trumpet
application failed codesign verification. the signature was invalid or was not signed with an apple submission certificate.

i know that i have to go way back and start over but i am completely lost and since the setup of the profiles is probably wrong, i am not sure if i can even fix it.

i have completely forgotten what app ids do ... like i said, hardly any sleep the last two nights

This is making me very scared for the time when I need to set all of this up.
  • xyloFUNxyloFUN Member Posts: 1,593
ok, i have rebuilt the whole app, kept notes on note names and created the app in the itunes page.

the only thing that is left to do is deal with loading the application ...

The application loader does not see my zip file on my desktop and only lets me choose another name from the drop down. what do i do?
