jumping plataforms how to change jump direction

when i'm jumping plataforms in my games, i cant find a way to make it jump to the sides and make an arc type of jump. Similar to how mario jumos, or really like in any other plataformer.

Also how do i integrate accelerometer into this?

    I've just been looking at the platformer demo template which you can download. I think there's a lot of stuff in there about jumping to the left and right sides. looks really useful.
