edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
Well we finally finished it and after 2 days solid testing we submitted RW today (fingers crossed it will get push through and out before xmas although i think we will be a week or 2 late for pre xmas release).

It's our proudest moment and by far our best game to date, yes it's better than Bumps!

And so the marketing begins...ohh and i need someone to do a video for us.

Bit of boring info:

Time to complete: 3 solid months of late nights and lots of coffee (my dev time alone is around 7200 hours!).

App size: 19.9mb how the hell i got it under 20mb i will never know, well i do know but it's a secret.

FPS: 50-60 on a 2nd gen ipod touch (some scenes have 100s of actors and are over 8000 wide) no spawning or destroying REALLY helped the fps.

Full Retina support.

50 varied and interesting levels plus a bonus platform game.

500 Stars and 500 Bonus Stars to collect all tracked by our new save/load level select screens.

Zero load times upon restart of level.

Sound On/Off.

Custom font.

6 full length music tracks and a lot of funny speech and sfx compiled by a Mr Ben Reason.

Fantastic vector artwork by my main man Mr C.

Price 99c.

Some never seen it done before in GS stuff.

iPad and (fingers crossed) Mac store versions coming soon.

Darren.

We did it for Bumps too, you have to make a local variable in each actor that can be killed or moved called StartY (name it what you like) and do change attribute StartY to self.positionY.

Then when you collect it or kill it or whatever do an image swap if you want a special effect then move it off screen so do something like if collected=true change Y to 500.

Then when you die do something like if restart=true change attribute self.position.Y to StartY.

You also have to reset and variables like previously collected item and such so it is a pain but well worth the instant restart imo.

Could be wrong but I'm sure TSB did a video on this recently?

EDIT: Just spoke to him and he made a demo http://gamesalad.com/game/3269

Everybody here is very excited about your new game, and we hope you sell millions of copies! For those who haven't seen it yet, it is quite a lot of fun and incredibly cute. I could see the main character becoming a huge, internationally-known video game icon like Sonic, Qbert or the like.

I had the opportunity to play the very early builds when Darren first started the project it is very impressive and I love the game as I have been following it through it's development.

If my experience with Mole is anything to go by, you wont have anywhere near as long to wait for approval as usual...seems theyve really shifted it up a few gears to get the apps out the door before the christmas lock down.

It caught me completely off guard.... so I think you should make it through the doors in time.

But yup... really looking forward to another great game from you guys.
