Can I go bigger than 1024 on an image for a mac desktop app?

    Hi scitunes, I'm pretty much certain that you can't. In that case, it's a limit set within GS itself; a warning dialog appears which reads: The image SuchandSuch is too large to safely use in GameSalad.

    There might have been a bit of luck if the screen size could be altered, but that's not possible either in .9. (I've a vague memory that you could change the screen size in a previous GS beta; do you remember that, or is it a false memory?)

    So I made a small image file. added it to an actor. quit GS. Then I opened and viewed the contents and opened the image folder in finder. I deleted the small image file. Then I added the large image and gave it the exact smae name is the small image file that I just deleted. Opened GS and it seems to work. Now will it publish?.....

    Yep. That works.

    That tells me that a Mac can handle images over 1024. It would be nice (especially if mac appstore is coming to GS) if GS allowed larger images. They could have a warning, or they could only allow larger images if you select mac from the home-screen device selection menu.

    @scitunes

    One thing I noted when doing some desktop games for family members...
    in the iOS devices we know the size of our customers' devices
    how the heck are we to know the monitor size of the various desktops/laptop users?

    MacAir has an 11" model... MacBook has 13"... plus larger sizes

    I thought iPad size would work... but my monitor 18.5 diagonal truncates the bottom slightly in Landscape and severely in Portrait.

    I think we are going to have to stick with the 720p HD to cover all possible displays...

    or maybe the 0.8*(game.DisplaySize) would work... but all images/spacing in layout would have to be correlated (mind boggling!)

    PS Thanx ever-so for the workaround for putting in larger images! like that!!!
