I'm trying to make a puzzle for my game I'm working on where an image is put into a bunch of squares and the squares are rotated so that you have to spin each square individually to make the image again. I know how to make each of the images spin, but I am having trouble cutting up my picture into equally sized squares. Does anybody know an easy way to do this? Thanks.

Hi Asymptoteell, if you've got Photoshop, a straightforward way would be as follows:

Say your image is 320 x 320 and you want 8 squares.

Create new file 320 x 320. Select and copy your image from it's file, go back to your new file, press cmd-A then go to Edit>Paste Into. Now to Edit>Transform>Scale, then holding down shift, reduce the image to the new file size as you want.

Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool, then in the bar just below the main menu, select Fixed Size by Style, and the width and height 80 each.

click on the file and position top left. Cmd-X, then new file, size 80 x 80. Cmnd-V.

Back to the main file, move the marquee along to the next square, using the Rulers (cmnd-+ if it helps); Cmd-X, then new file, size 80 x 80. Cmnd-V. Etc; til you've got all your 8 pics. Save for Web as PNG and you're done.

hope that helps! (And you use Photoshop... ;-)

I have Photoshop, but it's a few years old. I'll see if this works. Thanks.
