yeah, I think it works well for something simple like I have there, or a simple puzzle game, or a very simple shooter.
I think it will be hard to expand upon it to make something more complex, with more movement in the background, like a racer, with corners for example.
But just shows that with a little imagination, a little maths, and a lot of trial and error, you can get some pretty convincing 3d effects.
My dream is to try and re-create the 16-bit sprite scaling that sega did so well in things like afterburner and outrun. In theory, it's totally possible with the tools we have in GS.
1. Spawn stuff on the horizon 2. Move it downscreen 3. Scale it so it looks like its getting closer
The only part of this 3D test that wasn't apparent to me was the line. I was confused. How was the line not blocking out the stars? Then I was like... ah... someone's probably using blending effects.
The graphics are really nice! I think that's the best part of this example.
As for Klax, I'm fairly confident that it could be recreated with GameSalad. I think Atari Games is toast though. I'm not sure who owns the rights to the game anymore.

now how are you going to mix a Guitar hero sort of game with you other recent demo the flight control sort of interface...
Some sort of guitar flying whilst rocking it out mind melting game...
