PuzzleDozer iOS 3 issue / Help from community...?

Hi folks,
I need your help!
My app Puzzle Dozer does really fine on the app store (it's in the "Highlight" section / "new and noteworthy") and I get 100 - 200 downloads a day.

STILL I do have a problem: I have checked "ARMv7 required", because on older devices the app would crash due to lack of memory. But with the ARMv7 checked, the app won't install on iPhones/iPods running iOS 3.x any more. Which seems to be a common GameSalad issue. The customer needs to upgrade to iOS 4, then the app runs fine.

With so many people buying, there are also many iOS 3 users who are now disappointed because the app they payed for won't install - and they write trashing reviews (in several stores).

Now I have no way to inform them or to reply - I can't even upload a fixed version, because GS will always write 3.0 in the "MiniumOSVersion"-entry in the info.plist file. I just added a line in the app store description, but I guess people will only look at the system requirements.

Also, I can't reply via a review text, as I can only post in the german app store. Now my plea to you is the following:

It would be great if someone could write a review in the US store (or your respective country) that clarifies that iOS3-people simply need to update to iOS4 and the app runs fine.

I'm NOT asking for hyping ratings, please rate the app exactly the way you think about it, honestly.
I'm just looking for a way to tell the iOS3 people that they weren't fooled and that they can install the game after updating to iOS4.

Here are some promo codes:

I already wrote this to the GS team, so hopefully they'll fix this and I can submit an iOS4-only-update. So this plea hopefully is very temporary. Since I guess it concerns all GS users.
By the way, this issue does not occur on the iPad (which of course runs iOS 3).

Thank you very much!
Best wishes,
Thomas

    Thanks a lot! :o)

I guess will also post this iOS 3 issue in the tech support / suggestions section, because every GS developer will encounter this when using ARMv7.

can you not in Finder R click the .app build from GS and Show Package Content and edit the info.plist to change that MinimumOSVersion to 4.0??? (and resubmit as update to alleviate future problems)

we edit it for the viewer... and the info.plist data is only in that file... as that would be all you have to alter; that should NOT in anyway affect the build...

sorry you have to go through this... for all of us to learn!

No, of course I've tried this, but unfortunately, you can't do any changes to files in the app package after it has been created and signed by GameSalad.
When you change a single byte of your app, it won't install any more.

That's the big problem: Without a fix on the GS side, no "ARMv7 requiring app" will work on any iOS 3 iPhone / iPod.

    Did you fix the problem?
I have a 1st Gen iphone running iOS 3, and it says it's not compatible.

So now you shouldn't have the problem with people buying it when they can't use it right?

That's just because of the old device. ARMv7 requires iPhone 3GS or iPod 3G or later. So if you try to download using an old 1st or 2nd Gen iPhone (which have no ARMv7), you can't buy it. That's just fine, the problem is only on the newer devices.

If you are using an iPhone *3GS* or iPod 3G running iOS3 (= 3rd Gen devices), you can buy it, but you can't install it.

So, unfortunately: No, the problem is still there.

And hopefully it will get fixed somehow. Happy customers do not necessarily write reviews. Angry customers apparently do it right away...
