Hey,
i am wondering something ....

when I create a HD image to use for the iphone4 (Resolution Independence) am I OK as long as i leave one dimension, say with at 960, alone?
The reason I'd like to crop my images is that it take 3.2 MEG just for the artwork of the game which is high ... i think!

Also, when i make a scene, put all the images and actors and rules where they need to be and then copy the scene 10 times, how does that affect my game size?

Thanks for any info or links to tutorials :)

Not sure what you are saying regarding cropping. But as far as copying the scene 10 times, it does not take up 10 times more memory if that is what you are asking. The images, once in GS, are only counted once no matter how many times you put them in. The rules are duplicated however, and will take up marginally more room, as will any additional behaviors added.

    Hope that helps :)

    Josh,
Thanks about shedding some light on the "copy scenes"!

As far as cropping goes, I wonder if when I leave one dimension alone (width) if I can cheat on the eighth?
I don't want to bloat my app if I can avoid it.

How ever, I can test that later.

    Thanks again :)

Why do you need to leave one at 960? the HD graphics will work no matter what size as long as the dimensions of the art are double what the actor is. So I guess im confused as to what you are "cheat" on the RI

    Sorry about the confusion ....

Say you make an i4 game that consists of two images.
One image is used to fill the whole background and the other is used for what ever but only 120 x 200 pixels.

You would add two actors to hold the graphics, the first for the background and dragging the fullscreen image onto actor 1 and then dropping actor one into the scene will automatically fill the little black space in the sim! So far, so good!

    Now the smaller image.
Using the above way, except with the smaller pic will result in the image being twice the size.

So do I just double click the images and manually set the background one to 480 x 320 even though it resized automatically? And do I double clich actor two, holding the smaller image and cange the size to 60 x 100 (down from originally 120 x 200)?

I can not try this u til later when I continue but if that works, I'd be glad!

    Thanks for your reply :)
