don't get me wrong, I've copied a few artists in my time but try and get about 10 clear differences for copyright reasons. I am flattered that you like the graphic but it belongs to RickyNiko as he paid for it.
The rest of the game looks great and if I can help in any way please let me know, I'm pretty cheap... and of course, there is always your graphic designer brother.
When I was young, my older sister used to trace lots of Disney things (like Sheer khan the tiger) and a couple of times I took the pictures into school and said I drew them... This back fired as I was then chosen for ANY art project so I got lots of practice ... and so it was a simple lie which started my road into the wonderful world of graphic design...
Well, having compared the video, and Debugs animation from his website, I'd have to say that its a clear case of copyright theft.
You could maybe get away with it if the 2 items had more distinguishing features that differed, but in this case, the outline, placement of tufts of hair, the clothing and the exact same patch on the tunic make this such a clear case, thats not even funny....
..and thats even before we start comparing the actual walk animation, and the placement/rotation of body components per frame.
The hair is slightly more red...but that doesnt even come close to making it different.
Like QS said... Im looking forward to following this and seeing how it pans out....
okay thought i would get this straight sorry its 2:30am in south korea right now, i went through the imaging database i have the image i did this from was a drawn image what i drew a while back and scrapped it, but anyway i loded that image into illustrator and started working on it, okay then i found an image what i have now traced down after an hour and found out someone else has stolen this image.... and it was placed on google which i have now told them to remove it... i got the hair from another image what i traced over but i my actual AI file when you get it you will see it doesnt have just 1 charecter but 3 designs i chose this one out of all of them... dam it haha! but anyway its cool i understand its annoying to steal someones work... and im not trying to steal it or did i see this animation or anything prior to my realese... sorry if thats corsed anything.... im not here to copyright or steal other peoples work at all! i did take this as my image as i hadnt seen it like this at all! and the one i had drawn but can not find where i drew it from must of been the one i found on google ages ago! sorry about that! dont worry graphics isnt a problem im a juniour artist studying in one of koreans top unis at art haha so dont worry but thanks for the offer!
also so hope this clears this up... in the end what happend is, i had an old drawing i went over i illustrator what i found from google changed it slightly, used it as a guide liked the original thought that it was just one of them rare cases on google to find a random image even the poster set it as a free image to be used, never saw it animated so thought its okay, but geuss it was stolen before... i have no intent to copy right so just to let you know sorry if it caused anything wrong, i will change the image if it has been designed before!
hope everythings okay
P.S. i would never post saying i created all images unless i didnt think i had made them... so i im sorry about this in-convinces hope everyones happy will finish the game in about 4 days
also the animation is very different i looked at the one on your website mine is made by moving the legs and arms 3/4 of the way of the body and in 9 frames, and sped up to the speed of 19, so it makes it rather smooth the bump you see like yours is acctually rendoring from illustrator and the image went small in one of the frames where i moved the leg too high. so that proves that i did not take this image or steal it was just a crazy crazy quendince of unlucky stuff TT shame haha but it means i can make a nicer looking character haha and more different armours

Seriously, it's not on to use copyright stuff, of course; if that's what's happened. I stand with the rest for the outcome of this.
You know, in a situation like this... where it doesnt really matter how you got to using someone elses work, and claiming it as your own.. the excuses dont do you any good... so theres really no point in wasting time on them.
Just big up, admit the error, change the graphics and move on...
The game looks good, and its obvious your trying to produce something good.. so it would be a shame if something like this tarnishes the end product.
just pubishing now, honestly the trust is i did this image from a drawn image i drew a little while back but its cool im an understand guy! so i can understand copyright and i dont aim for any of that so will be changing the image shortly
well i geuss this will look like copyright to everyone, probally even does to me, but didnt intend it at all my excuss is not an excusse i did what i said, i had no clue of this alreadying beening used and im sorry about that, i dont want this game to be destroyed by this mistake and flaw it will be changed very very very soon well as soon as i go to sleep and wake up! i hope everyone can give the benifit of the doubt but its okay if you dont believe neither i understand just hope the game isnt effected! as tryed to hard for this
hope you can understand me thought the images strike a resembling likeliness as i said they where drawn from a drawing i did of a picture online... and the picture is the one what has been stolen in the first place so i am sorry!

Not sure I buy the explanation, but great to hear you're changing it:) Copyright issues can get you into a lot of trouble. Why don't you wish for an Apple dev account for x-mas? That way only YOU will be responsible for anything that gets published.
As you have already stated that you copied it from an image on the internet I can only ask that you do not use this character in your game as it came from Debug Design Limited, a fully insured, real company with copyright information on the images we create. The fact that it is called 'poorboy-run' is a clear giveaway that this image is related to the one created by me. We have taken people and companies to court (and won) before so this is not a problem. If the game is submitted to apple I will contact them asking them to pull it from sale for copyright reasons. Whether they believe it or not, the game will not be shown on the app store until an investigation has been completed, and I think they would see the issue.
Your walk is different because your character is carrying something. Anyone is able to save an animated gif, and use a gif splitter to separate it out to its individual frames. From here you can make minor changes in photoshop to fit your needs. A slightly different walk is not enough to avoid a copyright lawsuit.
If you do not use the character, I would be happy to consider the matter dropped and we can get back to talking about how good you game actually looks.
yeah i will drop the character don't worry just letting you know it wasn't an intended steal and sell of your work :)but yeah i wil change that up in the morning after uni now its 3am haha! is it okay to still have the video on here just as the demo?? because it was an early piece and cant revert to it so just hoping that would be okay, if its not i can also delete that video but hoping its okay as its not a realesae
anyone know a quick way of putting one progect into another with all of the actors there rules and attributes without placing every file in then re doing all the rules???
pretty sure there is no quick way ... other than doing a save as and using that as your main new project ... but then you would have to put in the actors and rules from your other project ... I guess you may have to determine which is the least work.

Might I ask what made you take that artistic direction?

It's like 'Social Network' the movie, but on a smaller scale.
'utongrag'...your last post, although confusing and a little unbelievable. I guess your sorry, wont do it again etc etc...
Look forward to seeing the final game...with new graphics...
