edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
Hi,
the other day, someone lent me an iPod, i've followed tsbooth's youtube tut on how to set up the gs viewer and a few days ago, it worked.
Today, when i wanted to test my app, i was able to get great results on the iphone4 but when i tried to upload my build onto the ipod, it does not show. All i have is the web, iphone, ipad and imac option.

I've done this twice now, each time following the tutorial and the viewer is installed on the ipod.
But i can not publish to it :(

what could i have overlooked?

oh, and wifi is working (i can browse the net)

Don't know if this can help u out but be sure that gamesalad viewer its running on your ipod touch before you open your game in game salad... At least its happening to me that to run it on the ipod, sometimes i have to close the game and reopened again so the option to run it on the game salad viewer appears on your game salad screen...

    I've rebooted the mac,
turned on the ipod, run gs viewer and it is waiting for gs creator

opening a project (after signing in to gs server) and trying to publish it gives me
    gamesalad.com, iphone, ipad and macintosh.

    No ipod in view :(

I have lost most of the day troubleshooting this and begin to wonder how important it is to test on the old platform? I care more about the iphone4 market anyway and after properly resizing the artwork to be RI it should be ok on the older generation ipods and iphones.

anyway, no more gs development for now as i'm working on windows software which is more urgent!!

Your confusing publishing with viewing - 2 different things. Publishing to iPhone and iPod is the same thing and that's for creating the app itself- but this has nothing to do with the GSviewer. If your using the viewer then you run it on your iPod and then it would show in your editor next to the green play button and you would choose it there (if it doesn't show then make sure your logged into GS).

actually, after double checking, my settings are right ... go figure!

But, i just used the iphone option and it does publish to the ipad! So at last, i can test if everything aligns and that's all i need for now.

I actually never got the devices to show next to the green play button. It would be cool if GS would release adequate tutorials on how to set everything up.

So it's not the best solution but at least its workable.

The hardest part is getting the GSviewer to install with xcode but if you already have it on your device there is no instruction needed. Run the GS viewer on the device. While in edit mode of your game (and logged into GS) the device will show next to the green play button. (this of course assumes your using the latest viewer that matches your editor version)

viewer instructions are on this page under GameSalad Viewer Support:

    thanks for those tips SingleSparq,
but nothing i try works. What bugs me is that just a few days ago, i had someones iphone here and i was able to publish to both devises. Nothing i do brings back the ipod :(

Anyway, i am losing too much time so i've decided to keep publishing for the iphone4 and see if apple passes the app? or not.

    cheers :)
