Guitar Hero Game anyone (or tap tap rev)???????

Anybody working on a guitar hero style game? I just started playing around with timers and moving actors to see how hard it would be to make one for a band that I play in. Right now the hardest part seems to be that my band doesn't always stay on tempo! Any tips or suggestions that others have run across in the making of similar style games would be appreciated.
