well, if John recommends the book, than how could one pass it up??

Do you have the book, John? (and if yes, does it cover how to layer actors but only trigger the most top one?

If your answer is YES, i will spend more money on that book than i did on GS ;)

I don't know but I can tell you how I did: I did a pseudo-boolean attribute needed to be true, together with mouse button pressure, for the base-layer buttons to work. When the new layer pops out, it switches to false so the underlying buttons can't be pressed.

I think this book is great it offers a lot of info, going over behaviors, math, physics plus everything else that you should consider while making games. I had a basic knowledge of stuff and learned quite a bit from the forum but it is nice to have reference book that you can refer to for greater detail. IMO it is well worth the price, it's in a downloadable ePub format and I don't see why you couldn't print a hard copy for yourself. Also Photics just released it in an APP form that works on the iPhone as well as the iPad with color graphics throughout. Now when I'm away from Gamesalad I can "study" wherever I'm at.

I bought the book a coupe of days ago, only had a chance to have a quick look through as been working loads but it appears to cover everything you need to know about gamesalad!
