3 hours spent trying to find one rule that is causing problems. Where is it?

Evening...

Only posting to share todays work on my game.

I've achieved a few bits early today, but then have one little bug where an image is fading in even when its attribute that tells it to fade in does not turn on.

I've searched through what is quite a complex scene and its driving me mad.

I wanted to get so much more done today.

Can GameSalad please include a display which shows which rules are happening when working with the 'preview' to make this process easier.

I still can't work out what the problem is...I'll get there eventually its just so annoying how much time gets wasted on the tiniest of problems..

I hear you ! I had issues with a game a week ago, and FINALLY figured it out...

What helped me was: Using the display text attribute to display certain rules and behaviors, so I could monitor if they were getting switched on and off, or changing when they're supposed to.

Also, GS runs much faster now, so with some rules, you may need to put in a timer: after 0.1 seconds and check run to completion to make sure the rule actually triggers.

At any rate, you will figure it out, but I feel your frustration :)

    thanks butterbean...

    yep finally fixed it....

I'd done the 'display text attribute' to check that the rule that controlled the actor fading in stayed at 0 .... which it did...

Finally worked it out, and just added added another rule to cancel it out when something else occurs....

So tricky, trying to fit lots of scenes into one scene to try and keep loading times down in my game, so there is just one long ish loading time then it runs smoothly.... (hopefully)...

Just publishing an Adhoc version to test properly on my phone.. now featuring a new 'STORMYSTUDIO' animated logo/sting at the front of the game... :-)
