New to Graphics design

Hi everyone,
I am new to graphics design, and I haver some ideas for games I wanna create, what kind of tutorials do you guys recommend for me? what apps to use?
I got Photoshop CS5 but it seems complicated to understand, on the other hand I do wanna create cool images.

Also www.sumopaint.com or gimp. But if you have photoshop you can probably do everything and then some with it.

Both sumo paint and gimp are free
