anyone done or have ideas on how I could create the effect of a fan blowing? I want an actor to be effected by the 'air' only in a certain section of the scene and have it look real ie: less blow on the edges and at distance etc.

tenrdrmer, I'm lazy so I'll just ask it: is the acceleration level inverted proportional to magnitude of the object from the "fan"?

I can answer .... no there are three actors acting as zones and they apply an accelerate and rotate of differing speeds to the falling actor in the direction of the 'blow' .. so if the object falls near the fan it collides with the max speed actor etc.

Is it possible to have the entire screen affected by a randomly changing wind? or would it have to vary per try? If so, how do you get it to change every time, or ultimately, constantly rotate and change speeds?

You can do all this with the same method, tshirtbooth mentioned, and accelerate in the "random" direction and "random" speed.

You can put different actors with different widths with "random" rules. This way every part of screen have random winds all over.
