Size Matters..

edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
My games Alpharoids and Alpharoids Lite for iphone and ipod were recently added to the app store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/alpharoids/id411619780?mt=8
Under project size in GS Creator it said my projects were 24 MB and 18 MB. Imagine my surprise when they are listed in the app store as 56 and 58 MB! What gives?! Can anyone explain this to me?
If anyone is interested in a promo code email me at iphoneshots at gmail dot com.
Also i accidentally had the resolution independence checked so the game looks a bit blurry on non iphone 4 models. An update has already been submitted to fix this.
happy new year everyone!

Turn it into a .zip file and check how many screenshots are in there. Delete all of them. They are useless, and they will decrease your file size once deleted

Whoa, you mean those screen shots that GS now wants when you publish? They are included in the package?

I just did an update to Tickle Stones and I noticed it was much bigger than it used to be, and I did very little to change it. The screen shots would not have amounted to much, so I think .9 is generating bigger files.

Yup all of the screenshots you see when publishing are in there. Its so pointless, and GS should really do something about it.

There were waaay more than 5 screenshots in my app package and it shaved off over 25 MB when i got rid of them! Not sure what all those screenies were for.

    Wow, screen shots from scenes?

Jumpin Judas, I just looked at the file I submitted and the screen shots were over 4 meg! And these seemed to be all solid black. That's the dang deal?

I came in under the 20 meg, but it could have been much smaller.

I wonder if this is a bug that started with 0.9?

    yep.

Make a backup of your gs project

In finder, right click on the gs project file and select "show package contents"

Then open the screenshots folder and delete everything. Then publish this file with no screen shots.

Thhe screenshots are all the screenshots the gs app shows for each scene.
It should be removed automatically when publishing but there is a bug that has been reported

This is a bad bug, there should be a sticky about the work-around until it is fixed, if there isn't already.

i think it's coming in .9.1, but I could be wrong. it's a client side fix as the application needs to strip out that folder before it sends it for publication

I've seen this reported like 3-4 times, and at least one yellow post saying that it will be fixed in the next version.

As I mentioned in another forum on this topic...make sure to check your images folder in your project before publishing. I found a lot of unused pictures in there (from me changing pictures, etc.).
