edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
I was programming as usual when something odd occurred.
1. Everything started slowing down.
2. after deleting an actor in my scene, it would physically no longer be there, yet the image remains ( the picture stays after)
3. Nothing would happen when I previewed ( balls won't drop, text won't display, can't manually change scene.
Please Help!!!

P.S. I have version 0.9.0

Now Gamesalad takes forever to open! It keeps asking me to save before closing!

    Hmmm...
I've tried delaying the drop and even sat for five minutes waiting. I've also tried to fast forward the fall, but then game salad didn't respond.
    Still need Help!!!!!

I have had some problems with gamesalad slowing down after prolonged use, so that previewing took quite a while before it would load. I restarted my mac and that seemed to fix it. Maybe try that if you haven't already

GameSalad has memory issues. You must save, completely close the program, and then restart it occasionally. How often depends on your machine. I can usually go 20 min before needing a restart. If you have low ram you may have to do it every 5min. It's still in beta so issues like these are to be expected and prob wont get much better until a lot closer to V1.0

I'm having the same problem. After creating a few new actor tags for my platformer, I suddenly couldn't run my game anymore. When I deleted actors, they were gone from the scene but the images still remained. Now I can't get my game to run or preview. The game screen appears, but all in-game interactions freeze and nothing moves.

I've tried reinstalling, but to no avail. I realize that the program is still in Beta, maybe I've set my standards too high by making a megaman knockoff right off the bat.

Would the Professional version work better?

If this problem is persisting with anyone, then you're not going to like what I have to report from my testing.

I just tried this on an iMAC (I use a macbook pro) and nothing has happened. I think something has happened to the project file and you may need to start from scratch. If you can still access some of your actors and behaviours, do your best to copy them into your new project. I'm transfering my stuff to a new file as we speak

My project hasn't crashed, and I have done what everyone has said. Tell me: did anyone experience problems like this in older versions?

since your project is not yet an application... it can not crash... though it may be corrupt and crash the app that is try to open/run it.

when I have problems... I suspect my lousy programming and not the application running it...

think when you deleted that Actor... you had code in it that was needed by the other actors... open a previous version of your project and √ out what is on it.

Absolutely spot on, sir. I've done it myself - cursed at GameSalad for not 'working'.

Then found it was my fault.

I'm the prime suspect these days ;)

Too many people blame the tool. Yes it has its limitations. But the best way to find the source to most GS problems is to look in the mirror!
