I feel honored. I'm helping to get the word out there about GameSalad. Today, The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook is now listed as "What's Hot" in the book section of the iTunes App Store.

This is exciting!

WITH your book, graphics designers can make a beginner - intermediate app.
Without your book, we can ask on the forum ... and in time, the "usual" great members are providing solutions but because the book covers so much more, the info is simply impossible to come by unless it sits on your iThing
I have an index ready to go. (It's a new feature to make it easier to search the book.) I'm just waiting to see what changed with GameSalad 0.9.1. I'll probably have to update the behavior section, as pause is being added. I might have to update the Mac publishing section, as it seems the Mac App Store is on the way.
When the next version of GameSalad is released, textbook ordering at Photics.com will cease. (Sound effect ordering will cease as well.) The plan is to make the book available exclusively through the iTunes App Store. Even if GameSalad is not updated in the near future, online ordering of the textbook will cease no later than February 28, 2011.
Why would I do this?
1) It's easier to update a single project. There are too many different versions... epub, pdf and app. So, I'm focusing on the most successful version. (That's the app version.)
2) There's an affiliate program for iTunes, so people might be able to make some money by promoting the app version of the book... http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/
3) Better ordering system - With iTunes, you can use Paypal or buy an iTunes Gift Card in a store. I don't have to worry about my email being blocked by spam filters. Downloads are instant! It's also less work for me. I can focus on building better apps - which can include the updates to the textbook.
Side Note: All orders are up-to-date, so if you haven't received the textbook download information, you might want to check your spam filter.
I think this also increases the visibility of GameSalad. by directing traffic to the iTunes listing, it can help keep the book in the "What's Hot" section longer. The listing explains that the basic version GameSalad is FREE!
I'm happy to see that the book is helping a lot of people!
