It was a year to the day that I posted some exciting news on the forum...

That my wife was in labour and we were expecting our first baby. So on the 13th of January in 2010, Phoebe Grace was born. And I was playing with GameSalad and posting on the forum during a lot of the 3 day long labour...

I'd installed GameSalad just a few days earlier and was getting to grips with the most basic of functions in the software. I created my first web game 'Penguin Rain' during the labour.

And whilst on my 2 weeks paternity leave, I created my first iOS app, 'Contented Baby Sleep', a sound board of relaxing sounds with an interactive colour changing screen. Which still sells a few a week even now.

So...thankyou GameSalad for the software it's great, and I'm always tinkering with ideas for games or pushing to try and actually finish another one. Also always looking forward to the next update with hope of amazing things...

Thankyou to everyone on the forum for all the help, game advice and links to interesting stuff... and random conversations...

I've just signed up to my 2nd year as a developer with Apple...

Roll on 2011...

Fingers crossed my next game 'Dark Aslyum...the something or other" will sell a few and help me get closer to working on game development full time. Oh and of course move to live by the sea and become a bit of a surf bum.

Here's my original post from the hopsital: Alot of regular faces still on the forum back then.

Oh and a photo: :-)

@StormyStudios, Congrats on your baby/waddler/toddler I know the feeling it's very special but I'm still trying to figure out the below problem, maybe you can help.

    - If Baby Crying = True
    - Change Attribute = keep working on my gs game OR stop and feed baby ?

    Jel,
    no, it goes like this:

    - if Baby Crying = True
    - Change Attribute = Make New Baby and see if that once cries too

If you want to be on the safe side, experiment with sound first ;)

    @stormystudio,
congrats on a job well done! I love the smile on your little one!

    Absolutely ADORABLE baby :D

I don't normally get all mushy about babies but yeah, truly adorable.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go and cuddle my Zhu Zhu pet :3

    @stormystudio,

this is really awesome in more ways than I can begin to count. I actually wasn't with GameSalad when the original post happened, so let me take the opportunity now to say CONGRATS!

This thread has just spread warm & fuzzy feelings all throughout GS HQ. Thank you for sharing this and we hope to help make 2011 a great year for you as a game developer. Keep up the awesomeness.

Wow. Congratulations! They say shipping a game is like having a baby. You bring things to a whole new level, shipping games while having a baby.

Thanks xyloFUN, I'll give it a try.

@Phoebe Grace - A very happy birthday to you! You look like a happy baby. Be good and give daddy time to make Dark Asylum. That way, he'll be able to buy you that pony that you'll be wanting when you're a little bit older :)

@stormystudio - All the best to you! 2011 is going to be a fantastic year!

xylofun ALWAYS has a backup plan so .....

    - if Baby Crying = True
    - press pause (you need GS 9.1 for that to work ;)

It was awesome to meet you at the London, er, 'meet' - and so glad things are going well for you!

I don't usually like babies (I could never eat a whole one) but Phoebe has an awesome smile! And a budding guitar player to boot! Congrats!

Will you be working on a sequel?

    QS :D

    Congrats, nice photo.

Since everyone else is coding jokes...

    - WHEN baby diaper full = True OR contents overlaps or collides with floor/person
    - Every 0.1 seconds, Pretend there is nothing wrong until stench = 100%
    - Otherwise hand baby to unsuspecting wife and interpolate.self.motion.linear.velocity.X to 100mph (Duration 0.5 seconds)

@Qs , no plans for a sequel as yet. Still enjoying / surviving the first version at the moment.

She is getting alot better at sleeping now so more time is becoming free for gamesalad work each evening.

In response to all the baby coding. Some good work in there.

    IF baby is not sleeping

CHANGE ATTRIBUTE device volume and interpolated to 0.

    Sorted.

Oh app news, my wife has volunteered for the local county Nct baby charity group and my app is going to get a little plug in their next magazine. Which is cool.
