edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
its 3am here in my city (Sunny Isles Beach / Miami beach / Aventura), got my pandora on my iphone 4, playing merengue and salsa music and i'm working on my game which i'm trying to get released in time for valentines day.

took a quick break.

while sipping on my cuban coffe, i began reading through the forums and the web and i see alot of naysayers about gamesalad.

"most gamesalad games are puzzle / doodle games"

while this is true to a certain extent, i say its because of the AWESOME built in physics engine. also ppl tend to forget that puzzle games are complex. each level is completely different. its not like having one hero running around a level shooting random enemies that are spawning automagically from one corner.

"i hate the splash screen"

its free. easy to use. no code. quality. and polish. +awesome community :)
i got 6 words for ya:
Get. The. F***. Over. It.

so is anyone else making valentines themed apps? one thing to keep notice is that holiday apps sell like crazy.

The AWESOME built in physics engine is box2D, and has not even half the feature the original have.
There are mostly puzzle games because those are actually a lot easier than the running and spawning bunch. In puzzles, every level IS different, because you just put objects in different positions and then start the level. In puzzles you don't have to worry much about framerate, or things happening during enterFrame. Just put something, that collides with something, and does something. Pretty "sandbox". Not bad, just stating that in a fast paced game, where you must continuosly spawn things, everything gets harder.
And what people hate is that there's actually no quality and no polish. And this is partly gs fault too, that has its share of flaws and bugs. And partly it's those gs users fault who are not enough self-criticizing themselves, and release things that they put lot of effort into, but that just aren't at a good enough level for people to appreciate them.
About the easy to use, it really depends on what you have in mind. There are things that are a lot easier with coding, and get utterly complicated with gs.
There's no coding though, and there's a nice gui, and with a lot of patience almost everything can be accomplished, even if not with performance and stability that other development platform have.

    Valentine game idea.

A game where you play Cupid and have to shoot matching couples to get them together.

There you go a free idea for the world to do with what you will.

How many couples can you pair up before something ? Happens..

every gamesalad i played had pretty bad touch tracking, annoying loading times and e.t.c. If you want a great game, u must use another engine or wait for an update.

Oh geez I wish I had thought about Valentines day a month ago. I guess I could make another physics puzzle with a valentines theme. Wonder if that would annoy people.
