I'm curious how you guys who have web pages market your apps?

Hey,
i'm reading a lot of material these days to help me with marketing the next generation of apps which i'm planing to unleash soon!

Most recent books mention to NOT overload the visitor with information and keep things short and to the point. Furthermore, they suggest that visitors no longer "read" a web page but rather skim over the page and if nothing grabs their attention, they move on.

According to those books, all of us who have apps in the app store should have an accompanying web page that goes hand in hand with the iTunes page.

How do you guys do this? Are you using a forum on your page? if yes, is the SMF (Simple Machine Forum) something that I should look into?

So far, I've redone a few of my sites to reflect that "less is more" style but I don't think I am "there" yet.

I'd be happy for any feedback on:

http://creativechildrencomposemusic.com

http://playat3.com

and a few others to get the linking and Google Ads happening.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this :)

I can create websites easily and quickly...

I have a friend who started apptrawler.com (which I am now in charge of) which I can review games and advertise on.

When you have set up a website you need all the regular social media links (FB, Twit, Stumble, digg etc etc) and try and update every day.

Then you need at least 24 interesting articles about something interesting to publish every 2 weeks and spread these around.

Go on 100 forums and talk about your app and link to it

    but above all...

make a GOOD game... and people will do the rest

P.S. SEO all your pages :)

P.S. SEO all your pages :)

I always used to pay a lot of attention to key words etc ...

But after The Little Composers Trumpet 3 was released, the first two pages google brought up linked to that app and, without using any key words, to my pages too.

In the past, I used to get excited if i searched for keywords on my page and google found it but having an app in iTunes does amazing things to SEO :)

Anyway, I gotta run ... it's release time for me so this is a big week :)

    hey zambo,
great work! Do you create WP templates from scratch or use a tool like Artisteer?

i just updated mine so that the tutorials and links are better placed (but have not seen it in MS IE yet so, no placement is final until I get someone to peak).

because i don't have much time, i just forward the little composers site to http://ernstrenner.com for the time being because i also like the forum better than the wordpress one i have. ... gotta run :)
