"marketplace" doesn't show on latest topics?!

Personally, i think thats a horrible idea.

I think it will cause a ton of confusion, and people will not even realize that theres a whole other section that they have been missing just because it doesn't show up on the latest discussion. I myself, and probably mostly everyone else too, looks at the latest discussion threads rather than going in the individual sections

Please can you fix this

arton that's why website designers are making a market place with easy payola purchase buttons & all but the market place on here is good just to see descriptions & videos

@Tshirt, Yes, I totally agree with you to a certain degree. I have no problem with them dedicating a section for a marketplace. But the fact that they're excluding all of those topics in there from the latest discussions which is where most people look, would cause so much confusion and no one would be able to see all of those threads.

Templates are extremely important to this community, it helps people get a head start at their projects. They're treating these templates as a secondary thing, when really its what is making this whole community flow. If they really wanted to organize the forum they should exclude something like misc from the latest discussions, because it has nothing to do with gamesalad.

Just imagine a new user coming to the forums looking for something to learn from. Chances are, they're going to scroll down to the latest discussions rather than clicking a section up there. So ultimately they won't even be able to see all the amazing templates offered by the community here.

I don't know, maybe its just me. Sorry if im sounding crazy but I still think its a bad idea.

You both have good points. But tshirst right above the fact that every thread in the new topic will most likely be soomething for sale. I think if someone new like you said they can make a thread in any section, then somone can refer them to the marketplace if needed. I think community help should take priorty to stuff for sale.

New users have been coming here for months asking for help, and people chime in and help them. There's also a bunch of youtube videos up, and countless demos that you *used* to be able to download.

That's what's made the community 'flow'.

Not selling information to them they used to get for free.

Exactly the priority should be for the new users to see the helpful threads and threads people make with questions, not threads with stuff for sale. Dont get me wrong, ive made some templates and i think the marketplace is a great idea, but i still dont think its right when someone asks a question all they get is links to purchase a template and not a answer to there questiom

    Exactly!

And what happens if I buy a template, use it, etc, then a newbie asks a question that could be answered by me, having learned from the template?

Do I not help out the newbie because I'd learned it from a paid product? Or do I help him anyway, potentially depriving a template maker from a sale?

It puts me, personally, in an uncomfortable position.

I'm SO happy these threads don't show up on the main page anymore. the marketplace should be seperate.

@QS Not at all, you get a template and learn from it you have every right to help with that info. Making a demo of your own with that info is another story.

For instance my cover flow level unlock template i have for sale. Most of the stuff in this i have already made videos for. I just put it all together for the people who want the finished item. But i will not withhold helping just to make a buck.

I think I've fallen in love with you all over again :P

i've been thinking about this a little more, and I'm still really glad that the market place doesn't show up under latest topics.

I also think the "marketplace stays in marketplace" rule is great too. I think too often people have asked for help (me included) and gotten posts about how "it's in a template for sale"

Now, don't get me wrong, i think people should be able to say "hey, i've got exactly what you're looking for as part of a huge template I worked on for a long time, so I'm charging for it", but I don't think it should come unsolicited. If people ask for help and say they don't mind paying for it, by all means i think we should post links to the marketplace, but if someone is asking for just general help, we should try and give it to them.

I like seeing the forum more cleaned up now! But what about Free templates, do those still go in the regular spot, not marketing?
