Spawning and destroying actors VS........?

my problem...

Actor 1 collides with actor 2. Actor 2 on collision spawns invisible actor 3 that emits particles for 2 second then destroys itself (looks like an explosion). I am getting significant FPS loss on my iPhone 4 it goes from 60fps to 10fps specially after a couple of the actor 2's are hit at same time.

Question, is the frame rate loss because of the constant spawning and destroying of the invisible actor? or is it the particles. Actor 3 releases 30 particles that radiate out like an explosion.

What is the best way to clean this up? less particles? or another way of releasing them? I have heard that constant spawning and destroying causes problems.. what is the best way around this..?
