Sandbox games/apps

Just wondering what thoughts are in the community and any experience some devs might have. I designed some sandbox games in the past in Flash that were just well, engine tests more than anything, but sometimes I would goof around for hours having fun with my creations. I'm just wondering if sandbox type stuff appeals to the casual gamer.

Sometimes I'm twiddling around with my iPod wishing that I had my flash games on it. Even though I don't consider myself as a casual gamer, sometimes I like something where I could just play around in where there are no rules, no difficulty, no scoring.. I just make my own rules and do stupid stuff.

you can do all that and then some with GameSalad :)
to play with your creation(s), install the gamesalad viewer on your device and you are good to go!

That's how we test our stuff or at least, that's how I do it :)

I'm making a game like this right now similar to Fantastic Contraption.

It all is very possible if you take the time to figure out how.

Oh yeah, I know I can do that, but I'd have to redo all my old Flash stuff in GS if I wanted to have some sandbox stuff to play with personally. Some of it is actually complex. What I want to know is how the average casual gamer likes sandbox stuff, since I would definitely port one of my projects over. Would you pay a buck to have a little world on your iPhone/iPod where you can just do whatever you want? Pocket God - though not much of a game, was a hit. Mine are different than being a god though.

i am the wrong guy to ask! Nether my ipad nor the iphone have any games on it except my own stuff and some useful utilities which i need or like to use.

Btw, that's what I do. Recreate my Flash apps with GS ... it's fun :)

Did you do you Flash projects in Action Script 3? If so, you can package to the iPhone now with CS5. My newest app (not a game) was created with Flash.
