Ways to improve the GS splash screen...

The gs splash is obviously an issue here, and I think something finally needs to be done with it to resolve those issues.

The best solution in my opinion is for the splash to be a combination between your logo and the gs logo. This way it is fair for both parties.

Remember, this is just what I think. Many people want the splash to be just there logo alone, but I think this is the best middle ground solution.

Something like this is what im visioning:

1)
Photobucket

2)

3)

4)

Don't agree with any option, pro users need to have the option to remove the logo for a professional look. You don't need to concept these ideas and offer them as 'the' suggested way to do things, I don't want the gs dev team getting any silly ideas now... :) And I'm still waiting to hear the official word on what the new plan is moving forward with regards to this area.

I believe free users should also have the option to display their own splash screen / logo anim as well, and maybe given an option to display the gs logo seperately.

Either way, it's just not professional to share a logo / splash page because at the very least, all the end user has is their own identity to help establish themselves.

I think there should be 3 different memberships

    Free: forced GS splash screen
    Pro($500): combination of 2 logos
Elite?($1000): your own individual splash screen

As much as I would love to have a individual custom splash screen, I just don't think it's going to happen from the answers I received from them through email, so im just trying to find a solid middle ground solution here.

Not too sure if the team changed their mind but a while back code monkey told me directly that they have no plans on giving us custom splash back but they will give pros a ton more features.

It's taken me nearly 6 months to raise enough cash to buy a macbook, I wouldn't have another $1000 lying around on top for 1 feature, hopefully when gs dev team finally announce what 'is' happening with the gs splash, it will be a reasonable pricing structure, and not just low price, and super high price for pro features that seem to have little benefit ( because we can )...

In an ideal world, the splash screen doesn't exist at all, everyone can develop their own games and establish themselves as an identity. the free version will be made obsolete, and a cheap alternative for non advanced users will be incorporated instead, I don't mind paying for software that I will use, and I 'will' upgrade to pro as long as that too, is not too expensive, to gain acess to any extra features.

Of course a 1 off price for 1 piece of software ( no alt. versions ) that includes everything would be favourable too...

I have to admit, if the splash is forced, I would probably look elsewhere for dev. options, because I do have programming experience, but if given the option I would just like to concentrate my efforts on design and art, rather than having to worry about coding too.

    1,000 dollars for GS?

Sorry, but i would rather to make my games in C++/Objective C even if it takes me years.

    I like my solution better...

Basically, the Professional version of GameSalad should not have a splash screen. Instead, there should be an affiliate program. I think the GameSalad team might find better results if the system was voluntary.

yes, pro version buyers need a option to remove the screen.

I suppose thats why they offer it as a free program then you can't moan about the splash screen, for me to buy this program the splash screen would have to be removed, and i wouldnt pay $1000

    free version with logo
$300 part GS logo part your logo
    $500 completely remove logo
$700 pro version with logo removed priority technical support

They shouldn't pull a Microsoft Windows. Multiple versions of the same software adds confusion.

In their recent features survey I suggested doing away with free/pro. A single $99 - $199 model would encourage free users (like myself) to sign up while also limiting blatant game stealing etc.

So I pretty much agree with the above thread, affiliate over forced splash screen any day!

Yea just remove the splash. Simple.

Because of the need to restart ever 10 minutes and because of the beta stage, meaning that updates cause incompatibility, my pricing suggestion is:

Basic version, no logo $ 49.99
Pro version, URL etc ... $ 199.99 (or what ever Corona goes for)

All other pricing is not realistic because the bottom line is that "most" of us will not make enough money to recover the $ 99 which Apple charges upfront. The keyword here is "most" because some do OK but my guess is that 90% of us don't.

I must agree with xyloFUN. Let me remove the logo for 50 bucks and we are fine.

GS should have a beta license price until the product don't cause you to lose precious days redoing projects from scratch because they get full of strange bugs (i.e: not working displaytext).

There is so much time loss dealing with bugs that many valuable programmers here announced they'll be working with more robust products, because even if the learning curve is harder they realized that they will be saving time.

Way too many bugs for a standard license.
