Adding a link in GS

Hey fellow GS'rs;

One of my projects requires people to be able to click a link and go to a webpage to find out certain info (think treasure hunt). I cannot figure out how to get an active link in the game. Using the text behavior I can get the link to show up but it isn't click-able.

What am I missing?

    You need a pro membership.
  • mayakovskimayakovski Member Posts: 15
    Your kidding right?

    I don't need iAd or Promo links or Priority Tech support, and that's all that the Pro versions lists as offering.

    I just want links outside of the game. I can't imagine that that would cost $500.00

    Really, how do I do it?

    you need a pro membership, promo links is what they are calling it, but it's really just the ability to put links in the game.

    pro member ship will have an URL rule

    Hmm;

    OK, so they are calling any kind of link a promo link, man that sucks, I think GS is the only program I can think of that can't do links.

    Tell me this, if I spend $500.00 for a pro membership do I also get a version of GS that does not crash every 20 minutes and require constant restarting? Or am I spending $500.00 for the privilege of being a BETA tester as I am already getting for free with the regular version?

    This is getting disheartening fast, the first game I wanted to make I am doing not in GS as GS it cannot handle text with any kind of decent formatting and ease of control let alone any form of DB storage. And now the second game I want to make, and I find out they want $500.00 to make hyperlinks work.

    your forgetting the fact that gamesalad requires no code whatsoever.

    I am forgetting nothing, it's great that gamesalad requires no programming at all, that's why I choose it to make my games. But without proper text handling tools I cannot make game 1, without external links I cannot make game 2. So code or no code it is useless to me.

    It seems very underhanded (gotta get that $$$ somehow) that in this day and age of always on, always connected, making games for our always connected internet devices the GS folks are blocking us from Internet connectivity in our games unless we pony up $500.00. Kinda like blackmail. And to charge $500.00 for a pro membership to a program that is not even stable yet. Well, I must say this is first time I have been asked to pay to be a beta tester.

    Freaking ungrateful little…….. ;)

    Also keep in mind that unless you can purely use xcode you will have to have another game engine and you will have to pay for that engine to be able to publish. Game Salad Gives you the ability to publish for free. It drives me up the wall that people like you come here and want to use GameSalad and cant appreciate the opportunity you have with the free software. All you can find is a reason to bitch about software that to this point is free for you to use.

    Good idea, above the link address I can say please remember this address, then go out of this game, open your browser manually and type in the address to go to the site listed. WOW, it's like 1992 all over again, oh wait I'm wrong, even in 1992 we had hyperlinks that worked.

    Mind you I guess it doesn't matter as I suspect GS cannot accept text input from a player either, or is that another $500.00???

    I hear corona is currently accepting ungrateful people like you.

    You should check it out.

    Maybe if you go bitch on their forum they will bow to your ungratefulness and waive the cost for Corona SDK just because you are so special.

    Man dont even. You come in here pissing and moaning because you don't have fully featured free software. The free version of GameSalad is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to make games. if you want extra features then you gotta pay for them. If your game requires URLS but your not confident it will make enough to repay the 500 then why bother with the game. ITS FREE WHICH MEANS THERE ARE LIMITS!!!!! get over it

    I wouldn't last long as a sous-chef. I would definitely get myself in trouble by closing out stupid posts like this and banning users if they have that ability. LOL

    Although it would be nice if more sous-chefs did there job with actually moderating. Jonmulcahy is the only one I ever see "moderating" regularly. TSB occasionally shuts down thread that gets way off topic but that all I really see him do. It would be nice if more stepped in to wipe out this sort of crap.

    my main gig is in music. welcome to my world. the internet (and maybe some of that MTV programming) has instilled a sense of entitlement. nobody seems to understand what goes into making a product, especially a downloadable product...they think it has no value since it is made up of 1's and 0's. (speaking mainly of the younger folk).

    @mayakovski, GS makes no promises to you that their product will do everything you ever could want it to. they provide a product. if it works for you, great. if it doesn't, and move on! there's no need to complain. find a different product that works for you, or why don't you program a GS alternative that does what you want? oh...because that would take you years? maybe those years of work are worth $500 to you. or maybe you can leave.
