I just bought the new Project Attributes utility from Darren and Wayne, and just have to post to say Wow!... its brilliant.

I have a broken game, that I shelved, as I just couldnt track down why it wasnt working properly on the device compared to the creator. GameSalad support suggested it was probably a broken attribute somewhere...but for the life of me I just couldnt track it down (I actually have my suspicions it was something that got broken under the hood, between version 0.8.9 and 0.9.0).

I loaded it up with the new utility, and within seconds had a new file exported that now works perfectly...

Its saved me from having to rebuild my game from scratch!

So thankyou Darren and Wayne, for a superb utility.

And a note to Gendai/GameSalad: you really need to come to a deal with these guys, and incorporate their tools into the GameSalad software so that everyone can benefit from the amazing tools and utilities that theyve been bringing to the community recently.

Awesome, glad that sorted it for you :)

I also bought the product to keep supporting these guys, i havent used it yet but wanted to do my bit in supporting them.

How did you sort it? If you had a bad attribute, how did you know what one it was by using this program?

Hi ChunkyPixels - That's really good news! and thanks for your support.

Whilst developing the XML interpreter we discovered various - err, 'anomalies' within the GameSalad XML construct. With the Attributes tool, I check carefully for XML compliance only within the Game Attributes and resolve accordingly. In particular, the TEXT Attribute nodes were not always constructed 'cleanly' - especially if you had a NULL value, or blank data.

    Anyways, glad it worked out.

    @ beefy_clyro

the utility highlighted an unused attribute, that I deleted and re-exported the project without. When I tried the new version, it then worked.

I wasnt convinced it was the unused attribute though...so I went back and reloaded the original broken file, and re-exported it with the unused attribute still in the project...

It appears that the utility fixed something else, that wasnt visible, which ties in to my theory that it was something broken under the hood of the project due to to something different between the 0.8.9 and 0.9.0 versions of GameSalad. Like I said, I'd pulled the project apart trying to find a so called broken attribute, but couldnt see anything... so had come to the conclusion it was something wrong with the project file that I simply didnt have access to.

Darren and Waynes utility looks like it fixes some issues/compatability differences between earlier versions and 0.9.0

I think Wayne explains it a bit in the above post :)

So yup... Im a very happy chap at the moment!

perhaps it needs a nickname 'GS Project Attributes & Anomalie Cleaner'. Likely after a little GS use we all could use a good 'Anomalie Clean' ... probably pay a fair price for that at a Spa :D
