It's not for sale...it's a poll.

Anyway...

We have an Angry Birds demo and wondering if you would like this to be available as a paid template?

Lots of work to do but it's coming along very well.

Level select has cover flow with snap to position.

Pigs have hit points so you can see them change state.

Blocks have hit points with visible art change like cracks in stone.

Auto restart level.

Level unlock with save/load.

And by the time were finished loads of other cool features.

Art & Music is copyright of course but we used it to see how close we could get to AB with GS and our verdict?....pretty dam close.

Darren.

    simply amazing!

also while I'm thinking about it just want to say thanks for the amazing GS resizer tool. I've just resized my entire new game (which had a hell of a lot of complicated relative sizes and things) from ipad to iphone in about 2 hours with it.

have you tested this on a device? I have this working with hit points on pigs and blocks and I am happy with the slingshot feel. Problem is that it is very laggy on my 2nd gen iTouch when I have levels with lots of blocks. I had a project thatI put on hold to see if GS would get better at dealing with more moving actors in a scene. It is also a major headache to implement zoom. In other words to be able to fire the slingshot at any zoom level requires multitouch because the touch coordinants do not match the camera coordinants when zoomed. So I had to create a touch actor and in the birds I had to check for an overlap with the touch actor instead of using "when touch is pressed." The touch actor is an unlocked instance that uses the camera offset with a zoom ratio offset. I find it super annoying that the camera size effects global touch coordinants. Anyways, hope you are able to get this working and with solid FPS with lots of blocks.

    Best of Luck!

I don't want to be a negative nancy, as this is clearly an awesome project you have going. I just wanted to give a heads up as my halloween game "Angry Zombie Launch" received a number of bad reviews for not being able to launch while zoomed out, so I think that implementing that is key. My reviews were better after I updated that aspect of the game. Just thought people could learn from my mistakes.

This is evil. how much time did it take to do?

And: how do you spawn the points with custom font when scored?

Nice job Darren. Let us know when the template is ready.

Looks cool! How are hit points calculated? Based on the force of the impact like in AB or just "touch it number of times"?
It really looks damn close to the original :)

Spent the day optimizing and it now runs at 45 FPS on my old 2nd gen touch.

See new video in 1st post for some tips on performance.

    Available soon for $100.

    Darren.

Looks like a great template... There's going to be a handful of good looking Angry Birds style of templates to choose from, with this, Tshirts and a couple of others Ive seen mentioned. Looks like were gonna see a lot of these kinds of games come out of GameSalad in the next few months... So it's going to be interesting what people create.

One thing, though... I'd recommend you don't actually release this template using the ripped Angry Birds graphics... You could open yourselves up to all sorts of legal hassles, that you really don't want to get involved in.

Let's face it, past records show that there's going to be at least one idiot, possibly even more that would publish the template as is... bringing legal wrath and threats in your direction, as the trail would easily track back and show you selling the template, with the Angry Birds graphics included. And even though it's a template, I doubt Chillingo and Rovio would be too happy to see you making profit from their assets.

I'm pretty sure you've already thought it through though, and know the dangers, so don't really need me pitching in with my advice ;)

Yes we used the AB art to show you a clone could more or less be done in GS i wouldn't use the art/music in the template if i was you :)

    Not to bad at all!
I've been wanting to make a game similar to this so that would be rad.

It would be good if it's FPS could be a lot higher but so far so good!
Maybe sell some Graphics templates or chuck em in or something?

    Keep up the good work!

if you could zoom out and still play the game like AB then that would be really good.

Haha, I agree with Chunky, to play it safe, don't put the graphics in there from Angry Birds, or you could put a disclaimer in there that says you don't bear any responsibility for the graphics included in the template if it's published, although still risky imo.

+1. Even though you didnt publish this in the appstore, since your still selling a commercial product with copyrighted art, you can still run into big problems.
