Misc. Questions About Gamesalad

Hello, all

Ok, here are some assorted questions that I have about GS:

Is it possible to add a paragraph of text, or is an image required for that sort of thing? (I am imagining something like "Text Box" in paint or photoshop or something).
When you make different scenes with the same background, does GS compile the code so that each of the scenes refers back to one image for the background, or does it duplicate that image for each scene?
Are there any plans for adding Push Notifications in the near future?
I have gathered from a couple different places that arrays were a possibility in the future, is there any talk on how soon such a feature could potentially be released?

I may come up with more questions as I go, but that's all for now, folks!

Thanks!

Create one in photoshop or gimp, and them pull it in as a png. At least that's what i've always done.

Or, use Interface Builder. Choose a OS X window and insert a multi-line NSTextField and insert your text there. Once your done, just take a screen shot of the Text Field.

May be easier than creating one from scratch in GIMP or Photoshop; as you would already have a text field there for you in IB.

Ok, thank you for the replies.

So I take it there is no text box? That's too bad... could anybody shed some light on the reasoning behind this choice by the GS devs to leave this feature out?

Also, there are some other questions I mentioned in the original post:

When you make different scenes with the same background, does GS compile the code so that each of the scenes refers back to one image for the background, or does it duplicate that image for each scene?

Are there any plans for adding Push Notifications in the near future?

I have gathered from a couple different places that arrays were a possibility in the future, is there any talk on how soon such a feature could potentially be released?

    Could anybody answer these?

Yes theres a display text behavior. It wil show whatever you type in it. You just get more control with custom fonts and such when you use a image, thats why most of us prefer to do it that way

You can add text to a scene

Create an actor, and give it the "Display Text" behaviour.
You are limited to the list of fonts from within GS though.

Thank you for the replies :)

Yes, but I find that a pain to use... it only shows 1 line at a time, and was wondering if there was a text box sort of way to edit it, as in paint or photoshop.

Also, another question I have: is there a way to automatically center an actor on the screen? Like a button that says "Center actor horizontally" or something like that.

Also, when making actors and I have set their opacity to 0 (like if I want to put text on there), is there a way to view all of the actors without having to preview it? This would be nice for lining up text and stuff.

If you hit alt enter when typing in the display text behavior it drops down to a line below so you can have paragraphs.

No grid or any allignment in gamesalad. Would be a huge help, theres a third party tool you could get for that in the market place section. Its a huge help.

And lastly when something has a display text behavior, the text doesnt appear until preview

yea but display text kinda sucks. only good for short on liners per actor. if u want to display a paragraph and create on Easily with wrapping aswell as custom fonts and colors and bevel effects and etc etc, just use photoshop or gimp like others suggested.

Thank you for yet even more responses :)

That's a good idea, tshirt, I'll try that.

John, I looked and can't seem to find it... am I blind or is it well hidden? ;) Either way, could you link it to me in here?
