Collision behavior changes drastically depending on movement style

When I have my character moving with d pad like buttons, other objects bounce off of it like I expect. Then I switch to a constrain to touch rule so that the character is moved using your finger and things collide and kind of fall off as if they are a wet noodle instead of a bouncing ball. Accelerometer is giving my problems with smoothness vs. responsiveness but the collisions seem to be working right. Any idea why there would be such a drastic collision difference when I constrain self.position.X to touch.touch1.X?
