Timer problems? Simple timer does not work

I am having problems with an app running on a 4th gen ipod with 4.1 on it. The app works fine on a 3rd gen ipod with 4.0 on it and in the preview player. To experiment I created a simple app with an actor. The actor has a timer that spawns another actor after 1 second. The app works fine in the preview player and on the 3rd gen ipod but not on the 4th gen ipod - nothing is spawned. The timer appears to be doing nothing. Has anyone had the same problem or know a fix? Thanks.

I think the new viewer is installed on the 4th gen. I connected the ipod and ran xcode and assumed that the new viewer was written over the old viewer. Also gamesalad would not connect to the old viewer so I assumed the new was transferred since it connected to gamesalad. Is there a way to tell for sure? When I look at the instructions in the viewer on the ipod, the last page says Copyright 2009-2011. <<< Does the 2011 mean it's the new one?

Would the operating system have an effect? The 4th gen has 4.1 (8B117) on it.

I created an adhoc version of the timerTest program that did NOT work on the 4th gen but DID work on the 3rd gen. On the 4th gen, it showed the gamesalad splash screen the very first time it ran but then it would not show the splash screen again. Instead it just showed the main screen with the white block without the spawning.

I then added another gamesalad game(from the itune store and not created by me) to the 4th gen ipod. It works on the 3rd gen but does not work on the 4th gen. It hangs on the loading screen. I added a non-gamesalad game and it appears to work fine. Maybe the next step is to update the 4th gen?

    Thanks for all your help.
