ok, this is getting quite annoying, i draw an image, scan it, plop it into photoshop, make it look the best it can be in 1500x1000, plop it into gamesalad, looks like crap.
the only time the image will go blury is if it is longer than 1024 on one side. In my game I had an image that was 3000x320. I had to split it up into 3 pieces all 1000x320 and the image blur went away.
What exactly did you do? I don't understand what you mean by "put it in, it was not large enough and went blurry"
I'd split your image from 1500x1000 into two 750x1000 pieces and create two actors. Then just put them side by side in your project.
When you put your actor in the scene, try editing the X/Y manually. There was a bug (not sure if they fixed it) that needed some images to be place on a .5 offset.
so if you need it at 160/240 make it 160.5/240.5
Works on all my images. Can I assume you use Save For Web in Photoshop??
that .5 game has been fixed as far as i know, i've never had to worry about it since the iphone publishing version came out. the only thing is to make sure your images are under 1024 x 1024.

if you need the image to be larger, you'll need to chop it up into two or more pieces and set them next to each other.
damn... guess there is no solution until gendai games make an update which slightly stops the image blur
damn... =(
