Custom Fonts. How and Where?

I'd like to add some cool word effects with custom fonts (or really any font other than the ones already included with GS).

So my question is; how do you get custom fonts into GS? I watched TSB's custom font numbers tutorial but I don't know if that applies to the words in my game.

My second question is; where do I get custom fonts? Is it better to actually make custom fonts or just know what you want and make pictures (of words)? i.e. is it better to make custom fonts a, b, c, b, d, etc. and use those letters to form "Main Menu" or it is better to have a .png of something that says, "Main Menu" in the font that I like?

Any thoughts?

There is a template on that. go into gamesalad or search for firemaplegame's custom font demo.If you can't find it, let me know and I will point it out.

Awesome! Can you use custom fonts for the words in games (i.e. Main Menu, New Game, etc)? Is there a way to do that? Or is it best to use .png of the words i'd like to use?

I use .png words. I am not sure if you can or not the other way.

Okay, one last question. What do you use to make your .png's out of? Do you use a software program for that? And, which one?

I use illustrator and photoshop. All though there are free mock ups of those
    photoshop-GIMP
    illustrator- inkscape.

and if you don't care for paying, you could always just torrent them. look on youtube for that.

Are you sure you're allowed to use that commercially? I thought educational versions were strictly for educational reasons.

Like dl said im a college student, and get a big discount on alot of software. I bought the whole cs5 master collection, and was actually able to use my leftover finacial aid to purchase as well. Simply awesome.

Also corona is only 50 for both ios and andriod if your a college student, but were not going there..

Just tryin to give you a picture of what the discounts are like.

Educational meaning students. I use these programs at my school also. lol. When they say educational, they mean you have to prove you are a student or a teacher. Doesn't matter how you use them as long as you don't re-sell the software.

thats educational licensing. Like for maya and such you get a educational license where theres watermarks and such. Adobe is straight student discount with full license, as well as many other.

Enroll in a night class and get you some cheap software ;)
