GS Testing / Viewer frustration with sound file size jumping

Ok,
I am doing my best to really optimize my toddler fun game to keep it from crashing so i'm redoing it from scratch with new tricks that i've learned from a lot of you. What's bugging me now..
I've taken a 50k sound file that simply is my daughter saying a letter like A or B or another letter
converted from .mp3 44k Hz with Audacity to a 16k Hz .ogg file which is now 12k in size..

testing in GS Viewer - as soon as i touch a letter and it plays the sound A - sound jumps 376k.. touch another letter and it goes up between 315-380k... SAY WHAT? it's only a 12k file.. GS is driving me to really hit the corona tutorials... ugh.

by the time i'm done going from A-Z the mini game is at 27mb total.. 8.5mb is sound now. Shouldn't total sound only be roughly 312k?? 12k x 26 letters

Have you made the sounds mono? That will help.

In Audacity select the little drop down triangle for each channel and choose 'split Audio track'.

Then select the same drop down and choose 'mono'.

    Hope that helps,

    QS :D

Wow.. I owe you a drink QS !

I didn't see the exact option on triangle of split audio track.. but i did choose
Tracks / Stereo Track to Mono and switched it to a mono sound.. file size is still 12k
but instead of increasing by 300k plus it now only increases by 50k. much better !!

    Thanks man.
