about iphone 4 resolution

hi please help me understand what to do with the game resolution in gamesalad.
some creators said that the right resolution is 480*320 when others said that if you wish to use iphone 4 make it 960*640
i wish to make one big scene that roll all the time untill the edge that i will choose to add(like in question 1 below)
1.can i make a 640*1800 scene(or longer one)(i mean like in a super mario king of a game... that the end of the scene is far away from the actor's beginning)?!
2.should i make 960*640 or 480*320 resolution(i wish the game will work for both iphone 4 and 3)?

what about the first question i didnt found answer to that...>>>>

not the scene
the scene i can make endless resolution,
but if i want to make the black space on the beginning of a project to be for the iphone 4 how do i change it!?(the area that u can see in the game> i want it to be 960*640 and not 480*320 as it is always)
but then the camera is not in the middle of the scene for the right resolution of the iphone 4
because i am working with iphone 3 resolution!
i will give it a try like u said but i hope the camera wont make some problems
for instance: in my game i'm using large background images. Each image files is 1024x1024(the max images size iphone can handle), but when I drag it onto the GS editor it will show up as 512x512. when its played on a iphone4, GS will know to use the hidden pixels.
I know its kinda a weird concept, but it works.

by the way what do u mean "the max images size iphone can handle"? is that mean that i can't make a 2000*2000 scene? with image that size of course....
and if the answer is no, so how can i make a "super mario" game type
when the scene is something like 320*9000....?( i hope u got the idea>> i mean that its really long hall)

lol, i said beeing not bleeding
the actor move forward and when he get to a new "puzzle" background he goes behind it and disappear and the only "puzzle" he is beeing display on is the first one
Go in to scene then click layers. You can reorder them there
