Mac OS apps hackable

I don't know if any of you are aware of this, but I have seen that Angry Birds on Mac OS is available as a torrent download, and all you have to do is take a certain file from any free app, and copy it to the folder, and you get the full Angry Birds Mac OS app for free. I'm not endorsing hacking Angry Birds by any means at all. It's a dirty practice, and I just don't do it. Especially being a developer. I'm just a little concerned about targeting Mac OS for games now. I was thinking about getting a Mac OS developer account, but this may keep me from it. Not that my games are spectacular, but Angry Birds is very popular, and hundreds of thousands of people are going to hack it now. Very discouraging.

    Im not endorsing at all but it is pretty ridiculous you have to pay different prices 3 times for literally the same exact game! ya know?

    Ya it does sorta seem like Apple has a lot of App Stores for their various products. Oh well, more money for us :)

    You are absolutely correct about that, but my concern is any Mac OS app that I make, is potentially hackable.

    Because iPhone games aren't as easy to hack for one thing. Unless you Jailbreak your iPhone and void the warranty, and go through some steps to hack the app. That's much more involved than just downloading a torrent and copying a file.

    Actually its simple to hack an iOS app. Voiding the warranty is really no big issue most apps are hacked within 24hours of release. anymore if its not its almost insulting. I've also been told by a sous-chef that there is actually a back door and as its released an automated system pulls the ipa out on the backend and hacks it. it is all very simple and a fact of life. you will make less money by not submitting a game at ll than you will by submitting a game and some users hack it. And honestly do you really think the ones willing to hack your game ever would have spent money anyway? no they would have found something similar for less or free.

    just think positive, keep all the negative vibes at the door :) and KNOW your app will sell :)

    I wouldn't jailbreak my iPhone, voiding the warranty would be an issue for me at least. If I had a second device I might, just to understand the technology behind it. I understand how hacking is everywhere, and pretty much everything eventually gets hacked. It's just news to me that it's now happening to the Mac OS apps. Anyway, my point is not what has or hasn't, is or isn't hackable. Just letting anyone that doesn't know already, that Mac OS apps are very easily hacked, more easily than iPhone or iPad. Like I mentioned, I did not know that was happening until I saw it, and I personally find that discouraging for developing Mac apps.

    And I wasn't out looking for an Angry Birds torrent.

    Unfortunately every piece of software ever created is crackable.
    This has been true since I was a kid in the 70's!

    Kids used to trade Apple][ software at school.

    for 99% of the cases, people who hack an app were never going to buy it in the first place.

    Not too serious, I was just sharing some information that I wasn't sure people were aware of, and it just get's on my nerves when people accuse someone of something when they don't know a person, or they are ignorant to the facts.
