How to: Speech option?

Can anyone tell me how to use the speech option under the edit (menu)?
The speech is written in black, buth the start and stop speech are grey, i can't hit them to use.

you can get the buttons to work if you highlight something you typed in...
if you want to use Spoken Text in your app ... I suggest Verbalize which is free ... and will save the speech so you can import/use in your game...
