playing animation then destroying an enemy?

hey guys, i just started using game salad a couple of hours ago and im a bit stuck with this :(

im trying to get it so the enemy ship coming towards you stops, plays an explosion animation/sound then disappears when its hit by a laser.

in testing, i shoot the enemy and the explosion sound plays, but the enemy keeps moving, the animation doesnt play and it isnt destroyed.

i have a rule where if the laser colides with the enemy it stops the enemy, plays the sound and animation then a timer so that it is destroyed after the animation.

isnt working though :(

just learning about this program at the minute so help would be much appreciated :)
