help with an anolog joystick

Im trying to figure out if i can make an anolog stick that only moves left or right depending which half of the circle your touching but at the same time have it control my gun which i want to be able to aim in the direction the anolog stick is held, i mainly just want to know if its posible (which im sure it is) and if its fairly simple to setup before i dive into the trial and error stage.

    Thanks a lot!! :) time to begin construction lol ill post if i get stuck along the way, if you have or know of a good tutorial that sorta demonstrates it please point it out i looked through your videos and didnt notice one but maby i just didnt see it
