Hello all! I'm working on my first game. I'm a children's book writer and illustrator and I am so happy to find this place.

Thanks to everyone for the tutorials. Just spiff!

Marilyn.

Welcome to GameSalad thetoymaker! If you have any questions, just post on the forums. There is always someone around 24/7 that can help you. You can also find answers to some questions by searching the forum and the wiki as well. Be sure to check out the GameSalad Cookbook Channel on YouTube for some great demos. Look forward to seeing what you can do!

Asymptoteell, Darren, Alex, thanks so much.

I'm working my way through the tutorials. I had a lot of fun with the pachinko game.

Welcome, Marilyn! Good to see another female face here :)

Also, I checked out your site- beautiful, beautiful work. Can't wait to see it translated to the iPad/iPhone!

Lorraine! Hello! Thanks for the kind words about my website. I've got a few little practice things that I've been futzing with. I'm so happy because I got a button to play music and change color.

Is there a place to post projects in process? So far I haven't been paying enough attention to the size of the entire game. Is there a rule of thumb for the whole game in terms of size? I have no idea, 5k or 5mgs.

I've just been here a few months, so I'm fairly new myself ;-) And I've never uploaded a game in progress here. Maybe one of the other guys can chime in?

As to size- are you building for the iPhone or iPad? AFAIK, you'll want to keep your iPhone game below 20mb to be downloadable over 3G.

20mgs? No problem! That shouldn't be too hard. I'm using pngs. I gotta figure out how to get my music file a bit smaller. So much to learn!

    Thanks! Marilyn

think it isn't Apple but more with ensuring that device downloads don't exceed carrier bandwave max ... or perhaps the device's capacity...

you can download larger apps to desktop and then sync into the devices...

also in attempts to keep your creations as compact as possible...
    ImageOptim
it is free and does a fantastic job of optimizing your images... getting rid extraneous info in their files...

    Greetings Marilynn and Lorraine...Enjoy!

    Hi MotherHoose :)

+1 for ImageOptim. And while we're on the subject of optimization, I use UtopianGames' Project Optimizer tool a LOT. It's saved me a lot of time, and is worth every penny.

Jeepers, i thought that folks in kid's books were nice. I feel like I've been invited to the coolest party. :-)

DrG, thanks, I've got a list of questions that I'm going to post soon.

Nesesita, awesome game trailer! Meatball Joe looks delish!

    Now back to work!
