Ok so I am at about 400$ right now. From here until the end of school I might get a couple hundred bucks. My birthday is in the summer. I am wanting the adobe cs6 programs that are hopefully coming out this summer. I am wanting the iphone 5 SO BAD because I am 14 and teens use their phones ALL the time. and I can take that to school. and I want the Ipad 2. because its a new experience and a new platform to develop for AND its like out now. So I am not adding a poll because I want some of you to (please) convince me a bit on why which is better.

thanks a bunch!

They are all great choices and you would be happy with any of them!

The iPhone is going to run you an extra $70 or so every month, so think of it as maybe a $2,000 cost instead of $200 and that might affect your decision somewhat. Granted, it's a phone and teens like their phones. ;)

The iPad is a great device that just got even better. You'd be very happy with it, and it's a one time investment that'll run you far less than the phone.

The CS6 software is a tool you'll use all the time and which you are already skilled at using. However, you have a version of the software already, so NOT having CS6 isn't going to handicap you like not having an iOS device would. You'll still be able to create without the latest version.

Not sure I said anything that'll solidify your decision one way or another, but maybe it'll give you some things that will help in your decision. Good luck!

Helped a bit. I have the 3gs not the iphone 4 so thats why. I am leaning towards the ipad because I dont have an upgrade to use for the iphone. I wasted it on an android:(

    3 ideas I think here:

Money making - get the ipad and expand your apps onto another device.

Self Learning - Get the CS6 apps to advance your skills and knowledge

Social - get the iphone to do continually connected 14 year old social media things

Question is which of these is more important to you.

They all are. My problem with the iphone 5 is that I dont have an upgrade nor do I have the money and it hasnt even come out yet. the problem with the ipad is that I would have to spend more money. apps cost more. and I wouldnt be able to get the iphone 5 which i really want but its like THE SAME as the others. still a phone. and I have an iphone. not an ipad. and cs6, I can just wait for that.

If you already upgraded your phone (android) and own CS5... get the iPad.

From a development perspective, I actually recommend getting a first gen iPad. Your game will definitely run on the new one if it runs on the original one.

Also, Apple just lowered the price on the original iPad to 399$ or 349$ refurbished. You can probably get them way cheaper on eBay or Craig's list too.

That will get you an iPad, plus you'll have a few hundred bucks towards something else!

iPad prices are dropping because the new one is coming. I'd go for the 'old' one so you have another development platform.
Perhaps you will make enough money with your apps so you can get it al and a car when you are old enough ;)

but seriously, if you buy iphone5, you will have to pay fee every month
and cs6 is not a huge different to cs5(if you have one)
so my opinion: ipad2 then cs6 then iphone5

What version of Adobe Suite do you currently have...

It might actually help any future job if you are fully learned up on the latest software...

But if your thinking of only ever working for yourself as an app developer get the ipad...(I should probably do the same)..

I have cs5. And I won't get the old Ipad for these reasons.
1- I am 14. Sooo that means when you tell your friends you got an ipad, you dont want to say the old one
2- I would use it MORE as a toy because I like all of the new features coming and the garageband looks beast.
3- I am still working on my first game. So I am not THAT big on developing yet
4- In a couple years I don't want to have the old model because it will be like the 2g to the iphone 4. I don't want that. The question is, where should I (as a teen) put my money towards. lol sorry.

iPhone 5 will get stolen at school. (I'd get some type of app that locks the phone) 14 year olds tend to lose things and get things stolen. My mom is a principal at a 6th grade - high school, she says things get stolen all the time.

iPad MAY get stolen at school, it's just harder to steal because of the size of it.

CS6 is good, but only if you are artistically talented and know how to use it.

I'd go with the iPad because then you can test/make games for the iPad to generate revenue to buy the CS6 and/or an iPhone 5.

See I get the fact that I should get the ipad from a dev's perspective. But from a perspective of just USING it, which should I get. get what I mean?

Update on my opinion---- I am leaning more towards the ipad. Because I already have a smart phone, well 3, and the main reason I would be getting the iphone 5 would be to just have the newest phone. and I just dont want to spend the money and then the iphone 5 have some beastly thing with it and I will regret it. BUT the I think I would USE the ipad 2 more for apps and playing than I would the iphone 5
