★★★ Story Book Template ★★★

Hi Everyone,
Here's a GameSalad Template to build interactive story books. The template is easy to customise, with simple annotated rules throughout. Add more interaction and graphics to create a fully immersive and compelling story book for your users.

Features
-Page Flip: Forwards and Back page turn effect. (Thank You Tshirtbooth for the pageflip art)

    wow ...thats great!! but can the page flip happen from the top right, instead of the bottom right? ...i will buy this.

    Sure it can. Just rotate the PageFlip Actor 180º. Then the Flip will happen Top left/Right.

    I purchased this amazing template, but for some reason it crashes every time i try to load it on the iPad, anyone else having this problem ?

    Dont have one to try it on. I did resize and load on the iphone viewer and it runs at around 200Mb of memory. Thats definitely to much for the iphone don't know about the ipad. Although I don't really get why its pulling that much memory since its only 18Mb in total size though.

    @Wayne Any thoughts on this?

    OK, we've been looking into this problem, and there does indeed seem to be an issue.

    - There are 2 Animation sates for the PAGE Flip (left & Right) each with 22 frames.
    - GameSalad LOADS ALL ANIMATION FRAMES into memory at once - Not good.
    - There is ONE actor for the page graphics, and ONE for the TEXT.
    - The Graphics are dynamically changed based on the page being viewed.
    - Each page is loaded into memory as the user changes the page.
    - These page graphics never get released from memory.
    - GameSalad Adds all graphics into memory, even if it's already there and retained new retained.

    To sum up, all graphic files used within a GameSalad Projects are retained within a Texture Cache. It seems that, at no point do they [Release, De Alloc] memory or clear out Texture Cache data for un-used Graphics. This is extra-ordinarily bad, and needs to be resolved, as this kind of mis-management of memory is, at best, poor.

    As basic coding practice (C, C++, Obj-C), their are a handful of ways to manage graphics in memory, but it's not for me to advise GameSalad on the management of memory.

    We can only apologise to everyone who has purchased the Template. We will supply you with a coupon/voucher to compensate.

    Well thats quite unfortunate. I was hoping it was just to much for the iphone. :(

    Is this something GameSalad has hinted they might try to fix? If so I may not even worry about a coupon. Otherwise do we need to request the coupon or are you guys sending those out at some point?

    Darren....with the new build of GameSalad coming and having the Memory leak fixes....would this be good for this template? I would like to use it.

    The template is free if you go to their website and email them and no 0.9.3 fixes nothing with this issue.
