hi all, just wanted to establish the required thread and hope my early eagerness has the other dev's concerned enough to throw them off their 'A' game ... Not so much huh? ... anyways moving along ...
i have my game play idea which I will share later today (after work I'm going to rough sketch it and put down all the elements in note form to estimate if I can do it all in the time frame and if it's worth doing. Since there is a chance that one of those is no then I will be looking at other ideas, hence I am not announcing yet.
I closing the first post of my game thread .. want to give another shout out to Stormy for pulling it all together again and to those taking part I'm looking forward to seeing the diversity of ideas this great community can put forth. Good luck!

taint throwing me anywhere!... if I have an 'A' game in me, I am gonna try to dig it out in the next 3 weeks!
think TOTB2 will give us all a chance to learn new things and develop our developer's skills!
and we contestants are all winners!

Have plans for killer whales, caves, treasure and a cool pause feature that I'll keep under wraps until I have it working.
More to come ....

Started about an hour ago and I have the game project file started and have some attributes, HUD, a few fish for visual feedback and my hook camera tracking and buttons for up and down.
Want to tackle some of the random fish movement today and figuring out a fun and effective way to make the fish proximity to the hook and then the 'bite' work randomly.
I know the basic fishing stuff has been done quite a bit but once I have that part cooked I have a number of ideas that I think will make the gameplay a little unique and not just another copy.
That's it for now ... I plan to post a video of progress later today and will check back in.
Enjoy your day... with success in your efforts!

I now have a lot of the parts in but am struggling with some random fish movement the sin code I got from one of Orbz templates aways goes right first and then left and I want a few fish going left then right. Go thing is I will hopefully understand what is actually going on in the math rather than blindly using it.
Still a bunch of blocks moving on screen at the moment so until I have the movement as I want it I will hold of creating some of the fish and thus also the first video .. think it will be sooner than later though.
Great to see others posts and progress ... great contest so far and its only been a day!
sorry my 'real job' got busy all of a sudden and really messed with my game time. I have tweaked a bit more and finally have something to show.
I am not happy with my Yeti character yet and the fish images are just placeholders but its coming together.
Things I'm working on:
1. Plan to have the user pick 5, 10 or 15 minutes and then the idea is you get points for different size fish so the goal is to set a high score in the time you choose
2. I have the scene as four levels each deeper than the preceding and having bigger point fish but they take longer to haul up and have some other challenges
3. The Yeti (controlled by the user) can pick which level to fish first, second etc so perhaps fishing deep first will get more points or perhaps not
4. Powerups are planned to help the fishing (like glowing jewels to attract large fish in the deepest level)
5. Will be a fishfinder scene so you can see whats left to catch and where the fish are
6. Better fish, some more moving actors, better bite, catch, miss technique, animated yeti
Anyway that's about it for now. Here a video clip, please provide suggestions or advice as I'm still really green at this. Thanks.
