Hi Guys,
I've been working nights on my iPhone game and I thought maybe it was time to show you where I'm at. Most functionality is in, I'm just creating new game content at this point. Right now there are 5 unique weapons, collectables, and several enemies with their own behaviors.

My blog has a few updated screens for you to check out. The video in the blog is the same as before, but rest assured I've been working hard and have added a lot since this video was made.
Peace, fellow developers!

I'm developing using a 3GS which currently hovers somewhere between 50 and 57 FPS. The video was taken off screen running on the web viewer, but I've made sure it runs equally as smooth on the phone. To do that I created a checkpoint system that spawns and unspawns enemies at areas where I place a checkpoint. I've also made sure that at least 9 shadows (foot soldiers) and a few larger more complex enemies can all run at the same time with a smooth frame rate. The monster generators can also continually spawn in new enemies at random intervals up to a set number to ensure that I never go under a high framerate.
The music has a 16-bit SNES era sound to it. I'm using driving beats, synthetic orchestra sounds, and a digital choir darkly singing in the backdrop. My goal is to have the music make an impression on players, similar to what the classic games did in the old days.
Thanks again guys! Lots more yet to come!
I haven't posted in a while so I wanted to give you an update on my game. Here's a link to a new video that I made to show you what I've been up to.
I still need to make more music and so far I've only made and implemented a few sound effects. That's my next adventure. A lot has happened this year including the birth of my second child (He's awesome, BTW! =D) And yet somehow I still find extra time to work on my game.
Anyway I hope that you like it! Gamesalad is pretty darn amazing! There are a few features that I really wish that it had, which would make my workflow and life a lot easier, but for now I seem to be on track to completing my original vision for the game.
