Hello all, I'm wanting to learn to create a game app, but have no idea where to start. I have a "doodle jump" type game in mind. GameSalad docs tell me "While some logical thinking and technical knowledge is necessary for any game development, we have tried to make the creation of interactions easy for the non-programmer." What kind of "technical knowledge" do I need to use GameSalad with any success? I'm dedicated to learning but don't know how to get started. Thanks a lot!

    Hi there and welcome!
There's a lot of solid information available thes days so you are in luck.
Go to the main Gamesalad front page and then click on the support tab at the top. The first item is "Cookbook". That takes to to an amazing list of YouTube instructional videos on anything from the most basic to advanced techniques.
You'll be fine. You don't need to be a "techie" at all.
    Good luck with it!

I can email you a doodle jump template if you like, but Mike is right, watch the videos.

Another tip, if your anything like me I would suggest opening GameSalad and loading one of the tutorial games. Play the game to see how it runs, then start looking into the actors to see how they were set up to work.

Its this type of "reverse engineering" that works best for me.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I came back yesterday from the bookstore with some rather thick, expensive, and generally depressing volumes about game app development. I was not excited about the long road I saw stretching out between me and Apple SDK mastery. Now I'm excited again! Thanks for the support!
