Hello from Lazy Brain Games!

Hi all, I'm Johnny B. :) I've been using gamemaker for freeware games on the PC. I'm seriously considering making some games for iphone & iPad with Gamesalad. I don't have a mac or iPhone, so I haven't really gotten a chance to try the program yet except for a demo at SXSW :P So I kinda gotta figure out if gamesalad can meet my needs before making an investment in mac stuff plus the 500 for Gamesalad :P

I have some basic questions about gamesalad

1) Is there any way to have online highscore boards for games made with Gamesalad? This is hugely important for me, as all the games I make have online highscores.

2) Can I sell my games?

3) Is there any sort of Gamesalad branding or splash screen that's required to be displayed on the games at any time?

If I can have a game with online highscores that I can sell without having any Gamesalad branding on it, I'd be stoked ;)

    Hi Johnny :)

    1) No, or at least not that I'm aware of. (This might have changed in the past few weeks since I haven't been around much.)

    2) Yes, you can sell your games through the App Store just like any other games created for the iPhone/iPad!

    3) Yes, the splash is currently on ALL GS games - I'm sure there's a free GS app you could download to see it for yourself.

    Thanks for the reply peachpellen :) It's very unfortunate that I can't do online highscores. If anyone has any news about online highscores please let me know!

    Thanks for the reply ace ;) I did a couple searches for "Gamecenter" but I couldn't quite find a straight ahead description of what it's capable of :P All I could discern is that it's a application that apple uses to store info for games? Is that right? Is there an article I can reference?

    Gamecenter is online leaderboards, multiplayer, etc.

    No release date set as of yet.
    They tend not to give dates and whatnot, but the have said it will be in the next version.

    We had to wait 5-6 month for the latest update, but before that updates had been coming at around once a month-ish.

    so fingers crossed that it's closer to the later :o)

    Its also worth noting that in that 5-6 months, lots was going on internally with GameSalad. They had just been bought out so the suits were then calling the shots, they also put a lot of time into a publishing model which in the end was completely scrapped and they have also done a lot of work re-doing their engine. Sooooo in a way, i hope the time waiting was down to that. They are also currently recruiting so im hoping things pick up speed again :)

    Hmmmm, well, I guess I'll just have to wait :P Too bad, I really wanted to get started :P Here's a video Ortoslon did for one of my games titled Sky Scream, just in case anyone wanted to check out one of the seven games I'm looking to bring to the iPhone & iPad...

    If I were you, I'd still get started.
    I think it will take you a little while to learn some of the unique quirks of GS ;o)

    And if the update comes whilst you are working on the game, then all good.

    Loving the look of Sky Scream btw.
