ToTB2 - Fat Penguin

Ok... I'm starting.

Still working on finishing my kids game, but I figured that I can spend some time on ToTB2. Not a lot of details right now, but I will post a video later this week when I'll finish the physics and put some graphics on.

The game is called 'Fat Penguin', and its a Tiki style game with a few small twists (I hope...). The goal is to get the Penguin to his fish without feeding him to the fish... (sharks). I never played with physics in GS, so I'm still experimenting with the basic game engine. TBS have a cool Tiki template, but I'm not sure it is allowed in ToTB2 and I do not have the spare $$$ for it (but it looks very impressive).

A real update will come in a few days.

Cheers,
GR.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing how it goes, it's a shame you don't have the money cause (this could be wrong) but I think it's a resource so I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to use it..

Working on adding some more logic to make the game a bit more than a standard Tiki. Here are the game rules as it stands:
    1. You have a limited number of steps
    2. You have to be stable on the platform for 5 seconds
    3. The water level is rising, so you have a limited time to complete the level
    4. 4 types of ice: breakable, unbreakable, slippery and collapse
    5. Special bonus for collecting fish along the way

Not much time to work on it today, so no new videos.

Didn't have a lot of time to work on it but here is some progress.
    1. Had to switch penguins since the artists wanted $50 in order to use the penguin in the icon. So I decided to draw my own penguin (wasn't that hard)
    2. Now the level have limited steps
    3. Unbreakable ice blocks
    4. 5 seconds count down when you hit the platform
    5. Reset level button
    6. Some sound effects
    7. Some more graphics
    8. Water goes up, so you have 30 seconds to get to the platform (faster in higher levels)

Still to do - a lot!

Here is the updated video. Comments and suggestions are welcome

I feel hat my game is missing something big. Not in order to win, but in order to be, well, a game...

There needs to be a replay value, not just more levels but a reason to come back and play the same level again. Angry Birds and Cut the Rope do it with stars, I'll probably do it with something more smelly like fish. The question is how... maybe I need to make this game portrait and not landscape or have it scroll to create larger levels.

    Suggestions welcome.

Looking for good background music today. Anyone can recommend a good loops site?

    Looking very 'cool'.

If you don't mind spending a few bucks check out revostock.com for music, its cheap and you can buy a fully licenced track for like $15

Thats what I used for Quake Builder anyway.

    Good luck with the comp..

Wow, Loos Great! I wish I could draw my own stuff :( Will be able to create games quickly!
Keep it up! I Recommend to make Gameplay Faster (Penguin Slide Faster)

Any progress with this in the end...?

Please post your final vid in the main TOTB2 thread so it can be put up for voting for all the excellent prizes.

Cheers for taking part either way...
